Mr. Alex Anene, the purported INEC returning officer for Anambra Central Senatorial Zone who alleged that he was being pressured to rig Saturday’s election in favour of Prof. Dora Akunyili, is an impostor acting out the script of Akunyili’s main rival, Dr.Chris Ngige. “The returning officer for Anambra Central Senatorial Zone during the election was Prof. Charles Esimone, Dean, College of Pharmacy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka,” said Prof. Akunyili, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial candidate who is locked in a supremacy battle with Ngige of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). “Anene is a fake INEC returning officer who has made himself a willing tool in the hands of a drowning and desperate politician,” Akunyili said in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Isaac Umunna. Unmasking Alex Anene, who is the Chief Accountant of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Akunyili said: “Alex Anene was initially recruited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to serve as the returning officer for Anambra Central during the April 9 National Assembly elections. On that Saturday morning — the day of the elections — the police in Awka stopped him in a vehicle and, upon searching him and those with him in the vehicle, found fake INEC identity cards on them. “The police took all of them to the station and detained them. When Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukogu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra State, heard about it, he went and bailed Anene in order to enable him to do the job for which he was hired by INEC. But rather than do so, Anene absconded and was replaced with Prof. Charles Esimone, Dean, College of Pharmacy of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, who eventually served as the returning officer for Anambra Central during the polls. “Unfortunately, the next thing we heard was that Ngige took Anene to a hotel to say that Ngige won the election and that unnamed agents working for APGA had offered him (Anene) N10m, a duplex and scholarship for his wards to declare me the winner of the election. “Anene is a fake returning officer publishing fake election results. He and his paymasters should be disregarded. I appeal to journalists to act professionally and give accused persons the opportunity to defend themselves before going to press. This is important so as to avoid becoming willing tools in the hands of desperate politicians intent on heating up the system having failed in their bid to actualise their political ambitions at the polls.”

So where was Prof. Esimone while all the results in the country were being announced? Why did it take him up till monday to act as the RO?

Who fired Anene?
Can he be fired by REC in the middle of an election?

Now tell me, did I hear that Prof. Esimone is the Dean of UNIZIK pharmacy Faculty. A faculty situated in Agulu (dora and peter obi's hometown) and practically created by Dora less than 6 years ago.

The RO (Anene) sounds and looks unstable. Then, how do you prove this kind of allegation? Did he mark the cash 'given' to him? How did they offer him these gifts, verbal? Where is the audio or video recording? ACN has mastered the art of cancelling elections where their opponents won while making only votes won by them count. And then Ngige has a record of 'rigging' ab initio.

It is possible he has requested for bribe and he wasn't given. It is also a possibility that Anie and Ngige gave more to the RO in order to smear DORA. It is a politics, the two men were so threatened by her credentials. Dora is my woman for Senate. Ngige can wait to complete his work in govt house when Obi is out. But the RO who refused to announce result claiming threat to his life amist the security at his disposal check it now. Another report has it that the RO was arrested with fake result sheet and detained by the police. Who collated the result and at what point was it multilated. We need more gist. The INEc RO (Anene) must not go free.
Support Dora for a forthright representation at the Senate.She did her JOB at NAFDAC and witch hunters should never get at her now.

If u watched anene's interview, he didnt say he has resigned. If he didnt why was he replaced; in the middle of an election?

If Dora is claiming dat the guy is fake, were was his 'real' RO when results have been collated?

Even if there is going to be a replacement, shouldnt it be a neutral guy?

Was it Dora that replaced the RO? it was not so where did neutral come in?
why was he replaced? i think INEC will need to address the public so that we know who is who and what is what.

There so many versions of the story flying around both in print and electronic media.
But the clear point is that Ngige is used to rigging and feeling disappointed this time.
