the reason i came to this website is because i know a bit about Nigeria.
i watch their movies, and plus i have few friends who are from Nigeria.

Who is paying for the Internet you are using to insult your family. Who is paying for the roof over your head? My dear you will do well to listen sometimes. From your reaction here it is obvious that you need to grow up. My mother would not have put up with that nonsense. To say you are moving out is crazy. Your mother should pack her things and take you with her to Nigeria. Let's see where you will move to then. You don't know how good you have it. Most of us had over bearing parents but when we all look back now we realize that we are better prepared that our peers that were roaming the streets in their teens. You cannot go far with this attitude. You need to adapt. You will have all the time in the world to be an adult.

the culture in Nigeria and the culture in the U.S for example are very different. you should not expect to get any sympathy regarding what you are complaining about. you are a 16 year old who is going through what most 16 year olds go through which is trying to form your own identity while creating your own boundaries. Fact is in Nigeria a person at 16 is considered a small child and our culture dictates respect for our elders. so you waltzing in here complaining while you have a roof over your head food to eat and cloths to wear is not something that most people would care about in the forum.

you are 16 the least you can do is grin and bear the crap at home for 2 more years until you leave for college assuming you go to school. Everyone hates someone or some people in their family but we all have to deal with it. if you move out like you said, what job will you be doing? because at 16 McDonald's would be your highest option for a job or hoeing around from guys to guys homes. I can tell you that if you decide to stay things will change and as you grow older, you will start to change ur view of those around u. . . I look back now and wish I never acted the way I did or said the things said and I kno for certain that if i was back home (9ja) i never would have acted that way. . .

anyways just try to persevere and love them no matter what u think they have against you. One thing that I can tell you is that I can see you posted this as a cry for help.

Everyone goes through some degree of feeling misunderstood, or feeling like their family hates them. The sad part about it is that nothing anyone can say will get through to you. Some parents hate their kids. Some parents resent their kids for being born. I can't say that you are not in this situation. You could be the victim of sexual abuse or starvation. You could be left chained to a bed for weeks.

However, if your parents are not doing any of those things to you, listen carefully to what I'm saying. The more you fight, the worse your life will turn out. Your mom might be tough, and demanding, but there are police officers who can't wait to be your mommy and daddy. They will tell you when and how to sleep, eat, and go to the bathroom.

You mentioned friends that you could go by. If you pay half your feeding, cable, internet, rent, clothing ect, there is no reason you have to live at home. Even if you are under 18, you can take your money that you work for and file paperwork through the courts to emancipate yourself from your parents. Trust me, you think family is bad, try living with friends. Living with someone is very different than hanging out. I've seen people like you run like the wind when you turn 18, only to bounce from place to place blaming everyone but themselves for their failures. Learn from their mistakes.

Please, please, don't wait until your family passes away before you appreciate them.
