I have a 2006 hyundai sonata with about 75k mileage on it. it gives a rattling sound on start up if it has been left for about 10 mins or on cold start up. Research shows the timing belt belt tensioner gets faulty at some mileage around 65kmiles and it is a fault associated with the v6 engine. I am getting tired of this sound and the car is still very clean. Nairalanders, kindly advice on where I can get this fault corrected please. Thanks  |

This was from a Hyundai Technical Service Bulletin. Thought you might find this interesting. DESCRIPTION: Some vehicles may experience an engine knock noise with the use of an aftermarket oil filter. Aftermarket oil filters may use different materials, construction and specifications than genuine Hyundai oil filters, which may lead to pressure variations within the engine, thus contributing to an engine knocking noise. VEHICLES AFFECTED: All Models REPAIR PROCEDURE: Perform an oil change on the vehicle and replace the aftermarket oil filter with a genuine Hyundai oil filter. WARRANTY INFORMATION: Normal warranty procedures apply. This is not a warranty repair. |
