One of my person's just delivered a Bouncing Baby Boy and we are looking for an igbo name that fits this English translation: GOD's OWN
Some have suggested the following:
Chinwe(sounds female)
Nkechi(sounds female too)
Ihechukwu(i understand this means 'light of God' and not "God's own" as we originally thot)

Dont know if anyone got a perfect idea?

It must not be Gods own. We ve got contemporary Igbo names Chikayima» Sochima, Munachi, onumsinachi(my joy is from God), Chiemuo, Chukwudum, Chukwuekeka etc.

Why are you rejecting all the names been given to you?

I am not rejecting the names but if you read my thread,the request was very specific.we are not just looking for names.

Name the baby 'mugugypan'for crying out loud, most native names are unisex names if they are based on what they mean. God's own could apply to a girl as well as a boy. Nkechi captures the meaning far better than any other name. Chikena.

I know of guys that bear the name Chinenye and Chinwe that you so rejected on gender basis. Ihechukwu and Okechukwu are even OK. If u still haven't gotten your best pick, there a lot of Igbo students & professors u can consult from.

I don't think u r a core Igbo person, otherwise, u shld ve bn able 2 differentiate d tone in igbo words.

Anyway, d name u want 4 d b.boy is any of these:

Ihechukwu, Ifechukwu, Nkechukwu. Similarly, Ihechi, Ifechi, Nkechi. U may leave Nkechi since it sounds feminine 2 u.

Note: Ihe cld mean light or illumination and also thing or something, e.g. Ihem, wch means my thing.

Imo pple say ihe, Anambra say ife. So understand d difference in d tones. D/4 any of dose names means God's thing or God's something or God's own.
