E-Governance generally refers to the use of Information Communication Technology by the government to exchange information and services with citizens, businesses and other arms of government.

Ideally, it improves the activities of government ministries, departments and agencies, with a promise of greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Though, e-Governance initiatives are usually complex in nature as well as dealing with multiple stakeholders, experts say it can make valuable contributions to development in all ramifications.

In Nigeria, the Federal Government, some years back, promised to begin to operate on the threshold of e-Governance and run the affairs of the state through ICT.
