I just got this email from GTbank, saying

`In view of the recent Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) directive that all Nigerian Bank account numbers be changed to a new standard format by May 2011, kindly find below, your new Nigerian Uniform Bank Account Number(s) (NUBAN):

OLD ACCOUNT NUMBER NEW ACCOUNT NUMBER (NUBAN)

202-267xxx-2-1-0 00027xxxxxxxx
202-267xxx-46-1-0 00027xxxxxxxxx

Please note that you are expected to start using your new NUBAN account number(s) for all transactions immediately.
Pls I need someone to enlighten me on what this meaningly trash is all about`

It's not a scan message NUBAN means nation universal bank account number. It's cbn way of controlling the bank account number. Each bank will be allocated a code just like the phone service provider and each account number will not be more than 10 digit.

but of what use is it? cant they still monitor it with the way it is presently?
