the problem with the north was, the northerner well not well educated. So they force thier will on southerner, which lead to the execution of Ahmadu Bello and Mohammed Murtala. when they change the term of independent agreement .

When the technically eliminated chief awolowo from the game. they went into action. look the first constitution gave Azikiwe more power than Ahmadu Bello.   That is why few thing in yorubaland are named after ladoke akintola . It was even hard getting them to name Ladoke Akintola university Ogbomosho after Akintola.  People even openly oppose it, when it was done. because people could not forgive Akintola.

It lead to diffferent military coup and dictators because the north does not want to allow the independent act to  be enforced.   That is the reason for 40 years , the north refuse to allow the south to be in power.
even for them to allow the south to have power, they made olusegun obasanjo to sign paper.

Even Gowon did not go to the university. it was hard to explain to them. Ahamdu bello did not go to university too.
