You might have numbers and not might!. there could be more southerner than northerners in London but believ you me , thes guys have more cash to spend than most una. They were the ones mainly in economic dominance through rulership in Nigeria for over 50 years and knowing that these guys do there thing quitely, you wouldn't be suprised if the shop believes they are their biggest patron. You don get girlfriend with an average Hausa man before? I bet you, He go OUTSPEND you for the girl! no try them when it omes to spending. Hausa is spoken across the northern region of west africa so don't be suprised , because whatever country they exists, they are in the ruling class. They know how to take care of themselves well and wellemly well. |

lepasharon: Interestingly 3 of my very best friends are Hausas, never knew them from Nigeria before coming here, and to be honest, they are excellent in all they do, There english is outsatnding and they are all academically brilliant! not to talk of how reliable and truthful they are. Sorry to say I ll never trust Yoruba people in London will rather deal with any other tribe or nationality but Yoruba, then again that is just my personal stand. |

I can't imagine the amount of utter, complete eediots on this thread saying that "Debenhams made an error", "Debenhams just picked a Nigerian language". Fck me! What kind of stewpidity and illiteracy is this? How have Nigerian youths turned to dullards that only use stewpid conjectures as backing arguments. These under-educated dullards think a company of that size, history and reputation does not know how to conduct a market research and implement initiatives for findings? You think they are your Nigerian businesses run by akara and ewedu one-man owners? Debenhams will just pick a Nigerian language and you think it is Hausa they will pick? You think they will not know it is mostly Yorubas that are in UK? You think there was no statistical or cultural significance in selecting Hausa? Bloody foools! What utter stewpidity! |

Is Debenhams top-notch store in London? Capital Nooooooo. This shops just do things anyhow. I remember i have to correct one yeye shop who think Yoruba is the main language in Nigeria. I knew Hausa goes to Swiss to shop but very few of them shop in London. I repeat very few. |

Akolawole: So you think your stewpid conjecture is more valid than the analysis conducted on THEIR own customers by Debenhams? Typical Nigerian conjecture throwing. E no go better for IBB and Abacha, they have ruined a generation by ruining our education system. ola olabiy: What don't you get there? You can't read? Let me educate you: Debenhams has done an analysis of shoppers in their London Oxford Street shop during the summer and they have found that they find a lot of the highest spending ones during the summer seasons are Hausas. The Hausas have been found to be plenty during the summer along with the Chinese and Arabs (you can conclude most are visiting as summer holiday tourists), they have been found to be one of the high spending on average and hence Debenham has decided to target them. What the fck don't you understand about that? Let me go to the accounting aspect of the education. If you own a shop where you hire shop assistants you pay £8 per labour hour and lets say (for illustration purposes) you have a well defined set of customers. Customer Set A contain about 300 people with each customer, utilising 15 mins of your shop assistant time, spends on average £50. Customer Set B contain about 20 people with each customer, utilising 15 mins of your shop assistant time, spends on average £1600. Which customer will you find more important to your business? Which for every hour of labour are you making more contribution to your profit from? Is it about volume of customers or about spend? Start thinking! |
| Re: London Retailer Shop Adopts Hausa Language To Woo Customers by Sagamite(m): 6:49pm On May 28, 2011 |
ola olabiy: So you know more than Debenhams about the people that shop in Debenhams purely based on your conjecture and challenging the research Debenhams itself conducted? Debenhams? A FTSE250 company? A whole FTSE250 company? What DA FCK! AAAAAAAAARGH! |
| Re: London Retailer Shop Adopts Hausa Language To Woo Customers by ola olabiy: 6:53pm On May 28, 2011 |
Sagamite: Again, don't be silly! The article in question referred to "Nigerians". So, tell me how they discovered that these Nigerians are Hausas? From names on cards? Looks? What exactly? Answer, man |

This sagamite sef with his oversabi. What special research did they do apart from asking customers at the point sale where they are from? |
| Re: London Retailer Shop Adopts Hausa Language To Woo Customers by ola olabiy: 6:55pm On May 28, 2011 |
They wanted the leading language in Nigeria (no. of speakers) and, apparently, it's Hausa. |

youngmonie: What the fck are you talking about? Dem no teach you English for school? You don't understand the meaning of most? How are most Hausas educated? How are most Hausas are schooling in London? Are you on drugs? You did not see the recent stats that should that only about 33% of Hausas are literate? http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=668925 That is just literate, we should not even go into graduate levels. Where the fck did you get your thrash talk from? Is it just another typical Nigerian conjecture-throwing as facts? ola olabiy: Are you on drugs? So you think such a company do not have people with brains that will think CAREFULLY about their tactics? You think they picked their choice of language out of thin air? You think they are not aware countries have different languages and would have asked shoppers what language they speak in their research survey? You think it is your gbegiri and ewedu analysis such a company conducts? |

denzel2009: Go and find out what professional primary market researchers do. ola olabiy: What has that got to do with anything? Primark is a subsidiary of another company. The other company is FTSE100. |
| Re: London Retailer Shop Adopts Hausa Language To Woo Customers by denzel2009: 7:15pm On May 28, 2011 |
Sagamite: If they had conducted a special/detailed research, they wouldn't have picked Hausa language. |
| Re: London Retailer Shop Adopts Hausa Language To Woo Customers by Sagamite(m): 7:27pm On May 28, 2011 |
denzel2009: How do you know that? Is that conjecture? What research did you conduct to come to that conclusion? |
| Re: London Retailer Shop Adopts Hausa Language To Woo Customers by denzel2009: 7:35pm On May 28, 2011 |
Sagamite: Do I need to do research for this? If I say for every hausa woman that shops there, there are 100 Yoruba women; I won't be too wrong. |

Middle Eastern shoppers spend more per head than any others, with Saudi Arabians parting with an average of £1,678 a trip, more than twice as much as Americans. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23950736-thats-great-value-in-any-language-debenhams-signs-to-lure-in-tourists.do they'll soon remove english language from those signs sef. |
