The police in Sokoto State have confirmed the killing of 11 persons by a vigilance group popularly called Yan Sakai which had been outlawed by the state government due to the group’s alleged excesses.

The vigilantes allegedly raided Mammande, a weekly market in the Gwadabawa Local Government Area of the state on Thursday afternoon.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Abubakar Sanusi, said the police had identified and arrested the perpetrators of the act.

Our correspondent also learnt that many others sustained varying degrees of injury from gunshots and machete cuts.

Those injured, according to a source, were taken to the Orthopaedic Hospital, Wamakko, and the State Specialist Hospital, Sokoto.

No reason was given for the attack but there had been recent killings and abduction in the eastern part of the state allegedly by bandits.

Ganzalo, state vigilance group commander
Also confirming the attack, the chairman of the local government, Aminu Aya, said, “The Yan Sakai came from the neighbouring Goronyo Local Government Area but I cannot ascertain whether they were residents of that area or not.

“The Fulani are from the neighbouring communities. They came to the market to buy food items among other things. The incident occurred around 3pm on Thursday when Yan Sakai identified and shot 15 Fulani on the spot. Eleven of them died instantly while four sustained fractures as a result of gunshots injuries they sustained.

“As I speak, we have taken the injured to the Orthopaedic Hospital in Wamakko while the 11 corpses have been deposited at the mortuary.”

This is intense. Many did not believe Gumi when he said this was an ethnic affair but occasions as this gives his claims some credit. Still we've heard of fulani emirs and elites that were kidnapped for ransom.

It didn't happen in the East nah. Substitute Sokoto with Enugu or Abia and watch this post get up to 50 pages. Anyway I am now happy that the Hausas are waking. The next big fight will be between the Hausas and the terrorist Fulanis and that will mark the end of all Futa Jalon terrorists in Nigeria. We will send back to Niger and Chad republic to reunite with their Kiths and kin.

What of we Yorubas my people who kept quiet to millions of fulanis in the sw bushes, no one is fighting them because of 2023 , We pretend as if fulanis that igboho was about to fight before his imprisonment has just vanished into thin air, But they are there in millions

Finally the Hausa man has decided to take his destiny into his hands. Fulanis are simply reaping the fruit of the evil seed they planted.

What happened in CAR will soon happen here too. Already, it's taking its form.

That can't happen In Nigeria. The country is too ethnically and religiously divided.

The only thing that the Fulani need to do is to accuse the igboman of sponsoring herdsmen and all Fulani atrocities will be forgiven and Nigerians will direct their anger to igbos

If they investigate thoroughly, it might just turn out to be that the so-called proscribed vigilante group was actually formed by Hausa youths defending themselves from Fulani terrorists.

They would never have been arrested, if the members were Fulani, and killing other tribes. See how the police worked swiftly. I'm yet to hear the govt proscribe "bandits".

The Fulanis cannot withstand the Hausas when the jungle mature. Attacking unarmed villagers with AK 47 rifles when they least expect and most times in the night is no bravery. Ten armed women with an Ak 47 can sack a whole village, so it's not bravery ok. Their saving grace is because the Hausas still sees them as their brothers because of Islam. Take that away and watch the Hausas deal with them. The Fulanis all through haven't won any conventional war. Check the recent one that happened in Central Africa republic where the people revolted and used locally made guns to fight back and still dealt with them even when they used automatic rifles and even tanks. The country's armoury was in their hands and they were still dealt with badly. Many of them are now refugees in other countries.

Why is malamii not threatening Sokoto with a State of Emergency?
And why are Tinubus Internet Urchins (TIU)on this platform not railing about how Sokoto people are finishing themselves?
It is not IPOB that will kill Nigeria. Rather Nigeria will perish under the heavy weight of injustice that has characterized her existence..

Something is really wrong somewhere...

See how swift the vigilante group were arrested. From all I knw, these vigilante known as YanSakai are the defence set up by the local people to curtail the issue of banditry and kidnapping. They have their presence in Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto. Now the police are swift to arrest them.

But bandits will strike all night long and kidnapp scores of people yet they can't be followed and arrested.

Let there be peace in the land,no one have the right to kill another person in any guise ,the right to take life belongs solely in the hand of the creator of human life Lord God almighty ,if anyone deserve to die ,God himself will take him or her out of the earth ,I blame myself and others like me who voted for this clueless guy as president ,he is too old and full of nepotism to understand the importance of securing the nation ,for the prosperity of our country ....without security there will be no prosperity ,this is the real reason our economy is under performing
