The Bridge Clinic Ltd is number one and I dont expect it 2 b cheap because they dont buy cheap equipment. They buy Swiss made Lab equip from us, meanwhile china could be much cheaper. They go 4 d best d market has 2 offer n hv d highest success rate. They also maintain UK standard through annual accreditation by d UK regulating body in charge of IVF services. Thats why Lagos State Govt put them in-charge @ LASUTH IVF Centre.

Elizapat:

Hello, please can somebody explain to me what IVF mean. I have married for over 6years now without child. I was diagnose to have low Fluid count which i have been treating for over 5years now. my wife also have fibroid and anytime we have fun the Fluid will pour back.
IVF is Invitro Fertilization which means fertilization outside the womb. Your wife's egg and your fluid is fertilized in a dish and the embryo which is the fertilized egg is later transfered back into to wife's womb where it is supposed to implant and grow for the next 9months. However so many things can go wrong therefore making implantation impossible. Read Psalm23's story on anyone try ivf/icsi. You will learn a lot there. If your wife has fibroid, depending on the position, it may prevent her from carrying a successful pregnancy to term so you need to see a specialist to advice you on that. Depending on your location and budget, in abuja, you can go to national hospital where its about N300,000 without the drugs. If you're in the South, You can go to Uniben Teaching Hospital where its about the same price. If you can afford private hospitals in PH and Lag, try bridge and Georges. Bridge is about 1.2m while Georges is about 900k-1m. These are about the best centres in the country where people have used with proven results. Note that IVF is not 100% guarantee that you will have a child. Its only sorry you get when its negative after spending that much money or a little discount if you decide to try again.
On the issue of Agbo (native medicine), it works for some people and doesn't work for others. You should be able to tell why you're taking agbo after you've done all the test and you're sure where the problem is coming from. Your wife should see a specialist in any teaching hospital if you can't afford a private one and let them run all the required test on both of you and advise you on the way forward. Its still God that gives at the end. Native medicine is good when it is controlled and there is regular check-up with whoever is giving it to you because it does not have accurate dosage most of the time. My advice for everyone is mind what you drink in the name of trying to have a child so you don't go to the great beyond before the pregnancy comes.

@Elizapat,
IVF is In Vitro Fertilization, please read more on IVF or any health related matter on WebMD ( http://www.webmd.com/). I'm not a Dr. but you need to take care of that fibroid first. The Fluid falling back is another thing that my wife went through after our first child. OK let me share my story with you, i live in Houston Texas, US. My wife and i have a 4 yrs old boy and had problem conceiving afterwards, of course we seeked medical help here but didn't yield any result. My sis-in-law in Nigeria got my wife to speak to a herbal dr. ( iya Alagbo), she made some dried herbs that was sent to us. We soaked it in water as instructed and my wife took it a couple of times, she conceived a month after. By the grace of God, we now have a 4 month old daughter. If you think this is an accident, i have referred another of my friend in Dallas without kid after a 5 years old marriage and his wife is now pregnant. I'll be happy to give you the herbal Dr's no. should you decide to try this unorthodox treatment. I have spent over $5,000 in treatments here, but this woman charged less than 15,000 naira ($100). Good luck.

My reply is specifically directed to Akiika: Please I am very interested in this your solution from Iya Alagbo, please how can you help me by getting across to me so that i can benefit by using the Herbal DR, I will be grateful. Pls send me the herbal Dr's phone number to my e-mail boxes frankiejoy80@yahoo.co.uk & frankiejoy80@yahoo.com, please send to both addresses.

Thank you. I will be very grateful.

@Rust2000, i agree with you that you need to be careful of what you take into your body system and i also agree that you need to have tests run to have diagnosis, but come off it, an agbo meant for fertility will actually kill? I was as skeptical as anybody could be until i listened to her interview my wife over the phone to determine what the problem was, i concluded she knew what she was doing instantly. By the way, how many people can afford all the monies you mentioned? I'll post the number tomorrow, i don't have her number here with me at work. To those interested, speak with her, if you are comfortable enough then give it a trial.

My apologies guys for the late reply, i've been in meeting since i got in to work today and of course the time zone difference.
Here is the iya alagbo's number: 08024553159  (she is based in Lagos)
Some heads up:
If you are not yoruba speaking, have an interpreter around. She's not a stack illiterate but don't limit the communication flow with grammar, lol
Be as honest as you can, some of her questions will be personal, like
have you had abortions before?
how long does the man hold "you know what"? , nairaland keeps editing the word, lol
is Fluid watery?
what Position? (i remember her recommendation is the "missionary position" and stay in bed for at least 5 mins after sex, don't rush to clean up)
have you had any STD in the past? e.t.c
She is even smart enough to advise you on the best time of the ovulation cycle to Be Intimate.
Most importantly, whatever your faith is, PRAY!
Good luck friends.

I feel really touched reading all these. Makes me remember the stress of praying along with my sister and a cousin for ten years before God answered. I pray for Gods guidance for all those searching and for the doctors, nurses , lab technicians, pharmacists and iya alagbos involved in making things happen. Above all, may you all be blessed with beautiful babies and all that you require to care for them. Amen.

IMO ivf in Nigeria is comparable to other countries i was gonna do IVF @ bridge clinic in PH befor i got pregnant naturally. What i like about Nigeria is that the doctors are willing to implant more than 2 embryos whereas in other countries they will only do 1 or maximum 2 if your lucky. GL to you all doing this procedure

Re: Cost Of IVF In Nigeria by Nobody: 10:59pm On Oct 31, 2011
Most people who got married and are able to give birth within 9months don't really know what God did for them. Some peole should visits both private and public hospitals on antenatal and gynae days, only then would they know that God really took His time to build that miracle they are carrying. Infertility and childlessness is very rampant not only in Nigeria but world wide. Those who have should continue to appreciate God and the gifts he has given and also pray for those who don't have because its not by power, nor over righteousness, nor wealth that brought theirs forth. Just God's mercies. And its so annoying when your friends call you to tell you how they are pregnant for the 3rd, 4th or 5th time and they don't want it so can you help them with a good gynacologists who can help them through abortion. God will help us all.

Dear All,
Why do IVF centres has as part of their pre procedure tests, HIV test? how do they manage the crises that will result in the (unlikely) event that their clients tested positive? secondly does testing positive means the procedure will not go ahead?
Re: Cost Of IVF In Nigeria by agiboma(f): 2:15am On Nov 08, 2011
Its for the safety of your unborn child. Their are medications that can be given to the mother so the baby does not get HIV in the event one parent is positive. Many countries test HIV candidates for HIV so this is a standard protocol for IVF candidates

"Poster,
Thanks for the clarifications. Yet, the issue is how can the crises that will follow in the (unlikely event) of a positive test be handled? You know the shock of knowing the reality may result in someone (spouse) committing suicide (moment of truth is that most men are really not saint regretably though; and I am not an exerption) how can such situation be handled? This is a situation of being in between the devil and the red sea. Would it not just be better for one to remain childless and manage the pain than to be forced to open up a chapter that will bring so much agony and pain. just being curious, and your candid suggestions are welcome. A very close friend/brother of mine is currently faced with this situation, and i need to know the rigght advise to put across.

Do the HIV test in a private lab and know your status before going to IVF centre.
Meanwhile, the earlier you know your HIV status the better for you.

I think these tests are done so the Doctors are sure of how to handle the patient and the embryos ealy enough in the event that one or both of them test positive to these tests. I don't think the Dr will stop the iVF process completely in the course of any eventualities. Couples with HIV and co are handled/ treated separately so the baby is not infected at birth. All the same, it is better to know your status and take precaution whatever the result than die of sadness due to childlessness cause you're scared of what your HIV status will be. Afterall Magic Jordan abi Johnson (the basketballer in America) celebrated 20 years of living with HIV yesterday so with proper medication it can be managed. Therefore, one shouldn't deprived himself of the joy of having children cos you're scared of the outcome of your HIV and hepatitis test.
Come to think of it, didn't you do these tests before marriage? Most churches actually conduct this test alongside with preganacy test before joining couples in Nigeria. Or could your friend be sared he contacted it after marriage? Its still better to know your status all the same.
