16/09/10-Five members of the National Youth Service Corps, four female and one male, were last night, at about 11.30 pm, abducted by unknown gunmen at Corpers’ Lodge at Unuogha Community Secondary school in Omuma Local Government area of Rivers State.

07/06/11-Five members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Rivers State have been abducted. The corps members, including four females and one male were said to have been whisked away by gunmen somewhere at Omademe in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state while on the way to their place of primary assignment.

Has anybody spotted this eerie coincidence? Does anyone know what happened to those kidnapped in September 2010?
Kidnappers are taking over Rivers state. What is Gov. Rotimi Amaechi doing about this? I hear he is one of the 'performing' Governors.

they should stop sending corpers to trouble spots end of matter. at least that is the next best alternative to total banning the failing nysc.

The problem is, how do you define 'troubled spots'? It's a bigger problem than the NYSC; it's about good governance. Law &order should reign in any civilised society. If crimes go unpunished then you encourage more crime. It should be 'Do the crime, do the time'

Also, politicians should stop stealing and sharing billions from the national treasury, they should concentrate on improving their constituents' lives. Gross inequality only breeds criminals

if we wait for politicians to stop stealing billions before we act to protect young graduates then we could as well wait for all eternity.
the immediate concern is safe guarding these young lives.
any local government area where corpers are met with violent/sexual crime of any form should be defined as a trouble spot and earn an automatic ban for at least 10 years.
