Hardly any of the websites you people are drawing up to support your claims are from any notable or reliable sources. I can open a couple of websites and begin a history of how the Igbo are native to Burundi and that will become evidence right? |

nonsense nigeria has some 200 to 250 tribes do we eventualy create 250 states ? then we have the different yoruba , ibo etal dialects. more states again? all this noise is bcause of federal allocation. 80% of states today are civil service basketcases. smh at the ediots in senate |

ABOLISH THE CURRENT SYSTEM AND GO BACK TO REGIONAL GOVT WHICH CONSISTS OF 6 REGIONS (NW, NE, NC, SW, SE, SS). AND EACH REGION SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO OWN AND CONTROL ITS RESOURCES AND GROW AT ITS OWN PACE WHILST PAYING TAXES TO THE FEDERAL GOVT. FEDERAL GOVT FUNCTIONS SHOULD BE SECURITY, INTL RELATIONS, AND NATIONAL INTEGRATION. AND AN INDIVIDUAL SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLAIM THAT (S)HE COMES FROM A REGION IF HE IS EITHER BORN THERE AND CAN SPEAK ONE OF THEIR LANGUAGES, OR (S)HE HAS CONTINUALLY RESIDED THERE FORĀ A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME AND CAN SPEAK ONE OF THEIR LOCAL LANGUAGES |

Nigerians are not ready for that now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by okooyinbo(m): 10:52am On Jun 21, 2011 |
PeeDaVinci: That is the best way to go about it. And the president should not directly be elected by the people. Rather, the premiers of the 6 regions who will be directly elected should form the executive council whereby the Head of State would be elected among the six Premier on rotatioanl basis. The federal capital territorry Abuja should be independent of all the regions, but with less territorry as it presently has. |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by Abagworo(m): 10:58am On Jun 21, 2011 |
The only state needed at the moment is a coastal state that covers the Ijaw and Itsekiri areas from Ondo to Bayelsa/Delta boundary. My reason is not tribal but necessity. If Bayelsa State was not created out of Rivers they would have been the most backward part of the world. This is not the fault of the Fg or State but their difficult terrain. The convenience of developing dry forest region will always attract more focus from a Government that wants to spend less and seemingly achieve more.Since those coastal regions are the richest part of the country, let them use their wealth to make their difficult terrain habitable, motorable and relatively developed. |

This is quite foolish. More states? For what purpose? |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by ekt_bear: 10:59am On Jun 21, 2011 |
Abagworo: 1. Ondo boundary must not be touched at all 2. I doubt Itsekiri want to be in the same state with Ijaw |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by Abagworo(m): 11:11am On Jun 21, 2011 |
ekt_bear: It has nothing to do with tribe. The Ijaw and Itsekiri must learn to live together because there can never be a clear cut boundary between them. okooyinbo: The six geo-political zones will short change the coastal people who are the most disadvantaged in Nigeria. If you take a look at SS where Igbos,Edos,Ibibios,Urhobos and other upland people have earned more development in the present structure you will tend to agree with me.Port Harcourt for example started from a coast but is moving deeper into Igbo hinterland because of the more convenient terrain upland.Delta has Asaba and a large conducive sparse of land that the Government does not need to waste their timne trying to develop the difficult coast.Same goes with Ondo and Edo.Even Akwaibom and Cross River. |

| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by brainpulse: 12:24pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
We are only creating more avenues for new governors, state rep to embezzle more money. the issue is not with creating more states the issue here is corruption. More allocated do not and never reaches the end users. why do we just read books and not read the sense in it |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by aloy/emeka: 12:26pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
We also demand for calacutta state. Isn't Lagos populous enough to be divided into 2 states? |

| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by akinnux(m): 2:31pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
We have had more than enough states in Nigeria. Many of our states are not viable. We should actually be talking about merging some states together. |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by bk.babe97y(m): 2:44pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
Why would the tiny SE enclave want as much states as the North or SW? |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by EzeUche!(m): 2:52pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
If you speak the same language as other groups. Then you should be made into one state. We shouldn't care what you call yourself. If for example Igbo is your first language, your ancestors spoke Igbo, and your name is Igbo, then you should be placed in a state full of Igbos. |

more states will not solve our problem in 9ja, it will only create more thief in d state. |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by ezeagu(m): 3:12pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
EzeUche!: Wouldn't that be awkward seeing as Bonny and Opobo fit that description but are separated from the mainland Igbo by Ijaw and Ogoni speakers? |
| Re: We Are Creating More States - Ekweremadu (Senate VP) by EzeUche!(m): 3:14pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
ezeagu: As you already should know. The inhabitants of both areas speak Ijaw as well. Bonny in particular, half the population speaks Ijaw. So you can't say they simply speak Igbo. And both towns were founded as Ijaw settlements with Igbo populations. Opobo even though it was founded by an Igbo man does not make the town Igbo. |

that somehow the creation of more boundaries will ''create the enabling environment for those states to thrive and prosper'', as claimed by the assemblyman, has to be poor joke more states= more politicians, more legislators (with 42milla quarterly allowance), more senators, special advisers, ministers, jobbers. . .all with such obscene pay packages. . . I think its high time we stopped making a fool of ourselves. ![]() |
