History Repeating Itself At Fifa World-cup Matches. by Emeka72(m): 10:21am On Jun 25, 2011
Lets relay here by posting any instance where we think similar occurences happened in the FIFA World-Cup. It could be from inception till recently concluded and in any of the editions of the FIFA World-cup.

I will start by posting:

History repeated itself at the World-cup when Germany won the 3rd place match at home in 2006 and also won it at South-Africa in 2010.

History repeated itself when Argentina defeatf Mexico in the round of 16 (btw 7:30-10:00 at night) and lost their 1/4 final match to Germany (3:30-6:00) afternoon; in Germany 2006.
The same thing also happened in South-Africa 2010; Argentina defeated Mexico in round of 16 (7:30-10:00) in the night and lost to Germany in quarter-final (3:30-6:00) afternoon.

In 2006, Germany beat a favorite Argentina in "controversial" cicumstances in the quaterfinals only to be beating by eventual winners Italy in the semis.
In 2010, Germany beat another favorites Argentina again "uncontroversially" in the quaterfinals only to be beaten again by eventual winners Spain in the semis.
Ignore d controversial stuff

Argentina were never favourite at the 2010 WC and were well beaten by Germany

In France 98 quarter-final btw Holland vs Argentina; it was 1 - 1 at half-time then in 2nd half, Ariel Ortega (Jersey no 10) headbut Edwin Van-der-ser and got red card for it and his team eventually lost.

One was a Q-final match
one was a final match

one match produced the world cup winner
one match didnt provide a finalist

one game ended up with a 2-1 score
one game went to penalties
Re: History Repeating Itself At Fifa World-cup Matches. by Emeka72(m): 5:27am On Dec 15, 2011
^But both were world-cup matches beyond group stages and in both cases, d no 10s were doing well for dier team b4 d red card and in both cases, d head-butt was out of play area as d camera didn't capture it dey only showed d replay after d incident.
Re: History Repeating Itself At Fifa World-cup Matches. by Emeka72(m): 3:28am On Dec 20, 2011
Nigeria lost 1-0 to Argentina, lost d 2nd match 2-1 after scoring 1st and drew d 3rd match and didn't qualify in Japan\Korea 2002.
same thing happened in South-Africa 2010.

in d 1st match, Japan\Korea 2002
Argentina won 1-0 but could have been more, d lone goal came from Veron's corner headed in by Gabriel Batstuta. Ike Shorunmu saved Nigeria frm many goals down.

in South-Africa 2010
Argentina could have won more dan 1-0. Vincent Enyama saved Nigeria frm recving many goals and d lone goal came from Veron's corner headed-in by Gabriel Heinze.
