About three out of five psychiatric cases reported at the University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti are linked to use of illicit drugs. The Ekiti State commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bamidele Akingbade, has said. Mr Akingbade, who disclosed this during the International Day Against Drug Abuse and illicit drug trafficking celebration at the weekend, said the rise in cases of mentally slow people in the state is a source of worry to the agency. Hehe If marijuana, not a big deal. If it is cocaine and things like that, then a problem. Btw, bag of cement is like N2k? So a bag of weed is N28K? Sounds like a profitable business being done then |

Meh, marijuana I don't even consider a hard drug personally. It isn't something on the level of cocaine, heroine or meth. Not a big deal. It isn't like one zone in Nigeria where every other day someone is found with cocaine in their anus |

Most regular drug pushers (young restless males) come from one zone But most abnormal drug pushers (babies and oldies) come from the opposite zone |

Uhm, we're talking about people turning mad in Ekiti from drugs here, right? |

ezeagu: The Ekiti amongst us thinks it is cool to turn mad after taking hemp. So let them be with their hemp-induced madness. |

I don't see why the word of an NDLEA official has any value here.
Is there any scientific evidence for any of these statements? Not even asking for all of them, just one. He is full of crap, as are several of the posters above me. |

| Re: Illicit Drug Consumption On The Rise In Ekiti State by ekt_bear: 1:34am On Jun 28, 2011 |
No, justify any of the statements, like I said. Seriously. I doubt there is any scientific evidence for any of his three hypotheses. Hell, marijuana is used where I live (legally!) to cure mental illnesses, rather than causing them. He is full of sh1t. Anyway, I understand why he says what he says. . . he is paid to scaremonger. |
| Re: Illicit Drug Consumption On The Rise In Ekiti State by ZnO: 1:38am On Jun 28, 2011 |
We don hear Good it is coming from Mr Akingbade May they continue to take illicit drugs and grow madder by the day, while we keep denying. Amen. After all, it is less population for naija; more money for those alive and well. Case closed. |

Heh. Expected from you. You are a fake hydroponics "professor" and crop production expert. No doubt you are the type to swallow nonsense w/o scientific evidence. Unless I see reports of real hard drugs being handled, I don't see any problem. Speaking of which. . .face your own a.n.al cocaine issues, "professor." |

ekt_bear: Medical marijuana is used in much more lighter doses than I've seen Nigerians using it. They don't encourage you to over use the drug. Yeah, the drug is better than the much harder ones out there, but I don't see the need for the hospitals to be making up their information about the cause of the mental illnesses of the patients they get. |
| Re: Illicit Drug Consumption On The Rise In Ekiti State by ekt_bear: 1:50am On Jun 28, 2011 |
Hehe. You can find folks from any group who've been involved in drugs. The question is, which groups do this at the highest rates in Nigeria? Want to venture any guesses? ![]() Hrm, here is a little assignment for you. You can use google news or the equivalent to write a little application that searches the news for articles of Nigerians and drugs. Why don't you write that software, and we can get then detailed statistics on who exactly is being executed for drug dealing in Malaysia and co. |

ezeagu: 3 of 5 is a tiny sample size to draw any sort of conclusions. Not even clear that all 3 cases are from marijuana. . . it says only "illicit drugs." For all we know it was someone getting high off of cough syrup. Regarding your first comment. . . well, the point of me bringing up medical marijuana was just to point out how harmless overall it is. Obviously there are people who smoke as much here in the US as those in Nigeria. In the grand scheme of things, I rate marijuana probably around drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes. Certainly not as harmful as legitimate dangerous drugs. |
| Re: Illicit Drug Consumption On The Rise In Ekiti State by Ileke-IdI: 2:01am On Jun 28, 2011 |
Ekiti produces them, SE abuses them. Ekiti/Ondo sells to SE also sells them over seas, get arrested, get killed by foreign officials for distribution of drugs. I believe I've made a thread about this and the study ongoing in the SE concerning High rates of drug abuse by students in the SE (very current, late 2010). Ezeagu/excanny should be familiar with this, esp when he brought up his ediocy to that thread. I'll dig it up later ![]() |

Boggles my mind that you are worried about marijuana when your brothers are being executed in foreign lands for hard drugs. Or do you think marijuana gets the death penalty in Singapore too? ![]() Imagine, your zone in Nigeria and their drug activities is why Nigerians cannot travel to SA, Asia and Europe without suspicion. Most of the reason Nigerians have a bad rep is due to your brothers. And you have the gall to take shots at some harmless farmers growing some 'dro? Bag of weed selling at N28K when same size of cement sells for N2K? Na wa o I'm tempted to light up this weekend in honor of these Ekiti farmers. Godspeed, and God bless. May your hands never weaken, may the NDLEA's attempts to frustrate your business fail. |

ekt_bear: And who spoiled the road to Europe and the United States. How many south westerners have the opportunity to travel that far in Asia? You don't even make the majority of the people who go there. Anyway, Nigeria is know for fraud like that story of dozens of fraudsters being caught, was it in New York. ekt_bear: This article is from Ekiti hospitals claiming that the citizens are running mad from drug overuse, no body is even getting angry, what for, just figure out how to solve the drug problem before "lunatics", as they said, run rampage in Ekiti and eventually across Nigeria. Drug users in Nigeria are worse because the police can't catch them or keep them in check like in developed countries. Somebody is destroying a whole generation you're telling them Godspeed. Anyway, whatever works for the state. |
| Re: Illicit Drug Consumption On The Rise In Ekiti State by ZnO: 2:38am On Jun 28, 2011 |
lol Ekiti people, including relations of Ileke Idi and Ekt Bear are getting mad, dying, due to illicit drug use. Their youth population is being decimated The drug use must explain their zombie-like attitude towards politics: follow, follow without a mind of their own And they are here talking Their family members are involved in drugs, using their kids as mules. Their grandmothers are not left out in the deals ![]() Wetin remain when MKO, TINUBU and Fela were the first drug pushers in Nigerian history? ![]() And two Ekitians were the first drug pushers executed by Brother Buhari ![]() |
| Re: Illicit Drug Consumption On The Rise In Ekiti State by Ileke-IdI: 2:52am On Jun 28, 2011 |
Yes, we're getting mad. Nobody is denying that we have drugs in Ekiti. Duh, after Ondo, Ekiti's drugs are the most potent. Hopefully, we those farmers will use them less and continue to sell them to SE'ners for their personal use/trade. Ekiti produces them, SE abuses them. |
| Re: Illicit Drug Consumption On The Rise In Ekiti State by ekt_bear: 2:53am On Jun 28, 2011 |
ezeagu:Indeed. Who spoiled that road, and is continuing to spoil it? Anyway, to cut a long story short, if each zone is able to handle issue separate passports separately, I think it would be of great benefit to my own zone. Only the first sentence of the article says anything about hospitals. The rest is from the mouth of this guy. The same guy who says marijuana spoils the land for ten years. So how credible is he, really? They should definitely prevent drugs like cocaine and such from spreading. But marijuana is not that sort of drug. What evidence do you have for this? The same NDLEA guy? Is he a scientist or medical professional? Show me peer-reviewed scientific research indicating that marijuana is highly destructive. That is worth listening to. Exactly. Seems to be working quite well for 'em. . . and would probably work even better w/o government interference |
