Abia to employ 50,000 youths

Agency Reporter

No fewer than 50, 000 youths are to be employed across the 17 local government areas of Abia State by the administration of Governor Theodore Orji.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Emmanuel Ihedioha, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Umuahia on Thursday.

He said the gesture was part of the empowerment scheme of the government geared towards fighting poverty and reducing restiveness in the state.

The Permanent Secretary added that the governor had approved the registration of the unemployed, which, he noted, was to be carried out by the Ministry of Commerce in collaboration with its Local Government Affairs counterpart.

"Those to be registered will be grouped under the umbrella of National Association of Small Scale Industries," he said.

Ihedioha noted that the move would also lead to the establishment of small scale industries in all the local council areas in the state.

I swear,i love this quote, I'm 100% in support, He used to be against the government  during his years as NLC president fighting for increased wages, improved service delivery, reduction in fuel hike e.t.c, So i think he should be the first governor to pay this minimum wage and i dont see reasons why he is wasting time oooo.

No single government supported manufacturing company in the state and this cretin is promising 50,000 Jobs? huh. Empowering the youths by turning them to Tricycle riders abi? This man has done absolutely nothing for his state. Take Aba for example which is supposed to be the industrial heartland of the S.E,you will not find one single world-class road!

Governor T.A Orji must be the biggest joker ever. Few months ago his government embarked on a recruitment scam scheme, nothing has been heard of them since then. Now he wants to employ another 50,000 youths, the questions I ask are:
What are they going to do, since most big companies like Pz, Unilever, etc in Aba have closed down due to insecurity and lack of basic infrastructure (could it be keke napep driving?)?
What happened to the 1000 naira his government ripped from Abia Youths?
Since he complained of paying the 18,000 minimum wage to the already existing workforce, Will be using majic to pay an additional 50,000?
Aba that has the potential to be one of the economic power house of Africa is in a sorry sight, yet he goes about dashing cars as gifts to traditional rulers (maybe the cars would fly).
Abia really needs God’s intervention.

I am not going to be shocked if after this administration, gov orji is credited with creating 50,000 jobs as one of the achievements of his ill-fated [s][/s]administration. He has yet again mocked at the joblesss plight of the Nigerian youths by promising 50,000 jobs that is not achievable practically but in papers and record purpose.

Revolution would for sure annihilate this set of politicians
Re: Abia To Employ 50,000 Youths by Demdem(m): 4:52pm On Jul 10, 2011
when the total number of civil servants in the state isnt even up to that at the moment. this guy is a crook.
Re: Abia To Employ 50,000 Youths by hackney(m): 4:53pm On Jul 10, 2011
Nothing good will come from abia till God delivers them.

Like someone said, the youths can start with scrubing  abia clean and washing it with soap.

Anything "orji" in abia govt is of satan.
Re: Abia To Employ 50,000 Youths by 1025: 5:07pm On Jul 10, 2011
finally, someone is here to break the 10,000 jobs of ohakim. if all of us here are against this gov, how did he then come back for second term via the much talked about free and fair elections?
it is not my prayers, but i see this present tenure as the most useless we are going to have in our history.
aso rock stinks and that will directly affect every other part of the system.
if our so-called law breakers makers are proven criminals, what are u expecting from the govs.
one more thing here is that all of us are now aware that orji uzor kalu and the mother are no longer behind any news we hear from the abia state govt house henceforth.
the idea of 50,000 jobs in a state where there is no company will show his freedom from bondage and ability to perform miracles.
maybe T. orji is about presenting himself as that consensus igbo presidential candidate, who knows? we are all waiting.
immediately kalu and the mother were over-thrown, sources close to the govt house say that the gov's son is the current man of the moment in the state
Re: Abia To Employ 50,000 Youths by chino11(m): 5:13pm On Jul 10, 2011
Abia is simply a failed state. Needs God's intervention because the problem with Abia state has surpassed the state and FG
