Welcome to Eastern Mediterranean University. As a state-trust university, our university continues to determine the level and principles of higher education, used as a model in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, since its foundation in 1979. Integrated with the city, Eastern Mediterranean University constitutes one of the best examples of 21st century speed and dynamism within its modern campus. It has 18 tennis courts, turf football fields, basketball courts, mini golf courts, skateboard areas, a stadium with running track, and a sports center with a 5000-people capacity and various sports areas, providing students the facilities to do any kinds of sport they wish. There is a fully-equipped Health Center on our campus which provides free service to our students. In addition, there are countless cafés, restaurants and dining halls fulfilling students’ basic needs. Conference halls, modern classrooms, activity clubs and centers that help develop our students in many ways, radio and TV channels of the university, and laboratories equipped with the latest technologies make students’ lives very attractive. Eastern Mediterranean University is a student-centered university.


SCHOLARSHIPS

International Merit-Based Scholarships 2010-2011 Academic Year
These scholarships will be awarded according to:
i) High school diploma scores.
ii) University Examination scores.
iii) Academic performance at former university in the case of transfer students.

The award and distribution of the scholarships will be overseen by the “International Students Merit-Based Scholarship Evaluation Committee.”

According to the decision of the committee, applicants may receive a 25% or 50% reduction in fees. Further, each semester, two applicants from every country will receive a full 100% scholarship.

It is the policy of the committee to award the full quota of scholarships each semester.

Scholarships are awarded for the standard duration of the course programme, i.e:
•4 years for undergraduate programs
•5 years for undergraduate programs with 1 year of academic study in the English Preparatory School.
•2 years for masters programs

Should recipients extend their program of study beyond these periods, they will be liable for the standard tuition fee charge.

Maintenance of Scholarships is not otherwise linked to level of academic performance, though scholarship awards can be withdrawn for infringements of university disciplinary regulations.

FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS
Scholarship applications will be examined on a case-by-case basis by the Scholarship Evaluation Committee and awards granted accordingly.

NOTIFICATION OF AWARDS

Notification of scholarship awards will be provided within two weeks of your formal acceptance for a program of study at Eastern Mediterranean University.
