Seek Counsel From A Competent Ifa Priest(babalawo)- Wande Abimbola Warns by Babasessy(m): 8:49am On Jul 22, 2011
Danger looms, Wande Abimbola warns Abaniwonda’s family

To avert potential spiritual consequences, close relations and family members of drowned ministerial nominee, Al-Mustaim Alade Abaniwonda, have been advised to seek counsel from a competent Ifa priest (Babalawo), to know why the respected politician died in the Lagos lagoon.

Renowned Ifa priest and former Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Wande Abimbola, gave the advice yesterday in an interview with National Mirror.

According to the highly respected Ifa scholar and Awise Agbaye, it is imperative to investigate what pushed Abaniwonda to embark on such a terrible thing. “This will enable the family to make the necessary sacrifice so that such a terrible thing will not happen again in the family. This is also necessary, so that his soul will find respite with his creator,” he said.

Speaking on the unfortunate incident in relation to Yoruba tradition, Abimbola explained that in the past, “Those who died in mysterious circumstances, like those who hanged themselves; those who jumped into the fire or river, were usually given a special burial peculiar to the circumstances of their death. “Like the one that jumped into the river, they usually bury such a at the river bank. But today, l do not see anybody practicing such, due to mordernisation.”

Manner and place of burial, may no longer have meaning due to mordernisation, the former vice-chancellor, however, advised that it is important to seek spiritual interpretation of the incident to avert a looming danger. “What actually matter these days, is not where you bury such a person, but to seek guidance from Ifa, why such a person did what he did and if there is a curse invoked on such a person, sacrifice could be made to atone and reverse such a curse, so that such a calamity will not happen again in the family.”

“Looking through his divination instrument, the lfa oracle will seek to know if the man has an urge to go to the place where he jumped to the river. In this part of the world, the Yoruba believes in destiny. Nobody can tell you where you are going to die, how and when.

“Today, there are many people who are very far away from tradition, but embrace superstition and anything that happens to them, there is an enemy that is lurking in the dark doing it, forgetting that individuals have their destiny. That is why you should not trace everything to the enemy, but seek the wise counsel of Ifa why such a situation happens”, he submitted.
