A group of Ekpoma natives are reportedly blocking the school gate. The indigene claimed that after months of not paying their indigene 1kobo, the school administration and the Edo government fired all of the Ekpoma indigenes serving as security officers and cleaners and hired contract personnel.

They declared that they wouldn't open the gate until their employees had been paid and reaffirmed.
In the midst of protesting they brought DJ, cooked and there was canopy

What many people don't know is that there is a silent govt policy to stop the employment of some junior staff (security and cleaners) but instead contract them out to reduce the wage bill and avoid paying unnecessary pensions. Considering that this jobs need young and energetic people and once they clock 40 they become redundant. Observe all federal and state establishments they now prefer to contract out such positions. Drivers where initially included but for security reasons people prefer employing personal drivers they have history with.
