MINIMUM WAGE ISSUE
Kudos to LABOUR UNION and TUC for being defiant in pressing home their demands and not allowing any one to bribe them secretly to accept the unrealistic terms imposed by the insincere government, corruption in Nigeria is like a constitution and it need be stopped.

But I want to urge the Union to extend their tentacles to the religious bodies also, because they are also employers of labour but they seemed to be immuned by the broils of increase in wages, for non participation in labour, thus using their employees like ordinary tissue and after being used it is thrown into garbage of insecurity flushed away and forgotten forever, whereas the church leaders and their families are feed fat on church offering.
Labor should start visiting churches to compel the body to join the union because the people are dying in silence, if am lying the Union should carry out secret investigation.

An ex- employee of a particular church died recently after the church had milked-out his strength and retired him, after retirement, the man had no option but to be engaged at old age instead of enjoying pension from his former employer after retirement

The peanut given to him was not sufficient to cater for his immediate family; he had to be looking for means of sustenance until he died pre-maturely. The African leaders are wicked, as it is in government so it is in church, where then is the safe place?

The Day corruption stops in the Church, Corruption will be over in Nigeria, or rather, the day Nigerian government wakes up to deal with corruption in the so called mega Churches, corruption will leave the Church.
Could this be the church that Jesus Christ died for?

About time this very important issue should be debated and given the necessary platform for urgent implementation.

Corruption cannot be fully eradicated. It exists everywhere.
When u remember corruption, remember Judas's act of betrayal which led to death of our Lord Jesus christ.

Pity a great pity. This must be a Jehovah witness child. I guess you should forward this letter to EFCC for corruption charge and NLC & TU for your maximum wage since govt can't pay you.

U 'd better get rid of all these ur falacious assault on churches. agreed there are some handful of unworthy churches but that does'nt qualifies every church alike for such disdains. there are churches that pay their workers handsomely, what about that? And besides, by the tenets, its not-for-profit organisaation, so cannot be subject to the same treatment like other businesses, agree or disagree. ur wish wld never happen.

Audit the church by govt? Cause we know that the church internal auditors do that but not for the public. Churches are safe haven, untouchable by taxation and audit, live with it.

Another church bashing thread

It is quite unfortunate what some people have turned this forum into.

@ Poster :
So you base your conclusion on one church that did not pay one employee well. Doesn't hold water

I am quite tired of people that put the countries problems and even their personal failures on churches.

You did not even advise labour to go to and help those in private firms first. It is church that first came to your mind

@poster. I see your frustration. But could this not be a case of transferred aggression? It is not just enough to blame the Church for a failed life; let us know, what job he was doing in the Church and how much he was he paid. Was he under blood oath to work for the church? Was he formally employed or he offered his voluntary service as a church worker and must have been duly informed that his ultimate reward is from God? Abegi, Make we hear word jare!!!

you are right, then again the churches should not worry if they have nothing to hide and why are some of their pastors riding in private jets and limousines, wearing expensive jewellries sometimes they even look like pop stars, all this makes churches seem like other buissinesses. dont you not think that sometimes they give the wrong impression that church is a money making machine buissiness?

One thing Christ himself did was to pay tax when he was asked to. IMO this indicates that he earned an income as it is mandatory for only those that worked or earned an income to pay tax. Though he might not be earning an income at the time but, the law believes as an adult he is productive and has to contribute to the development of the state. He himself set an example by paying without much ado. As such I don't think the church should be immune to what obtains in the country. If Christ did what he did because of an assumption of the prevailing law at the time, then the church should tow his line by doing what is prevailing right now at this time by paying minimum wages to their staff, since the bill has already been signed into law. What do ya think?

I suggest even that the so called mega churcus start paying taxes. It is only in Nigeria that churchs dont pay tax and the pastors are feeding fat while people are dieing in their churchs of hunger and stavetion and they are busy buying jets and suvs.Government should look into the affairs of these so called men of God.
