^^^ Miss HOW?! Do you live with your parents? That's why I can't be a vegetarian, not yet. I've tried at least twice and failed because of my mom. I was cooking my own food but my mom would be behind the stove, making fresh fish pepper soup, or egusi soup. Hard to deny such lol. Maybe when I leave the house I can try again lol.

Yes, I live with my parents. There are lots of Nigerian dishes that can easily be turned into vegetarian dishes so for me its not a big deal smiley

Adventists tend to lean towards being vegetarians. For instance, i went to Babcock University and they served vegetarian meals only. Although we heard that a few people ate meat in their homes, lol, see ojoro.

I knew quite a few vegetarians in Nigeria. Two were in my school (boarders). I myself was vegetarian for two years, before I fell off the wagon.  wink

Yeah, like moin moin. I read a Caucasian woman's blog once. She took a moin moin recipe and omitted both the meat and eggs since she's vegan.

Now we're never going to save the planet in this part of our world, since the fastest way towards that is to stop consuming meat products. Maybe our dear country will advance to going green and being animal welfarism conscious one day. Let us all join hands to save our world the Nigerian way.

Sorry, I fail to see how the planet will be saved by people being vegetarians.
1. First of all, what would I be saving the planet from?
2. How would being vegetarian save the planet?

I have tried to go vegetarian but it is so hard. My reason is cos i do not believe that meat is healthy at all. My parents have gone totally vegan as in they do not take milk, eggs, fish not just meat. Anytime, i visit them, i decide to follow their lead but my husband cannot fathom such. Everyday, "let us eat catfishh, isi-ewu, etc", "Make sure turkey na one whole lap else i no chop" and on and on. When i see him chopulating like that i start salivating and then break once but it then gets harder to go back.

I need more motivation, sigh.

Yeah, you can do stuff like that. Or when you make certain soups you can just choose not to add meat.

No, you can just omit meat in a lot of the food. A lot of the meals can easily altered.

So, are you currently a vegetarian or you've gone back to eating meat?

@ Inked Nerd, i keep swinging back and forth but i can proudly say that i have been meat, fish and egg free for the past one and a half months. Milk is another matter.

But i want ask, how healthy is a vegetarian diet for kids? I keep thinking that they are not getting enough protein.

Congrats, one and a half months isn't bad. If done correctly, it is perfectly healthy to raise a child on a vegetarian diet. There are cultures in which meat is not part of the consumption of people and they've raise perfectly healthy children. I saw a woman on a documentary on a woman who was raising her children on a raw food diet and her kids were perfectly healthy as well. I have some info on I could send to you if you want. By the way, I was gonna ask you if you had children. If so, are they on e vegetarian or non-vegetarian diet? And how would your husband feel about your children being on a vegetarian diet?
