Ok lets get started with other bundesliga matters

Bayern Munich to struggle for goals in Kaiserslautern and five Bundesliga bets to follow this weekend

Germany's top flight is hugely popular with punters and Ed Malyon has cast his glance over the value markets to consider.

Hertha Berlin vs VfB Stuttgart

Hertha have had a winless start to the new campaign but are the only side to take points off high-flying Hannover so far. In their last ten home games 80% have featured over 2.5 goals, whilst in Stuttgart’s last ten away games 70% fulfil the same criteria. On the back of those statistics, anything approaching evens is massive value.

: Schalke vs Borussia Monchengladbach

Both of these outfits have made good starts to the season and find themselves in the top four. Gladbach’s opening day win over Bayern Munich was obviously a huge surprise but also was their only game where both sides didn’t find the net. Schalke have six points from a possible nine and their games have seen an average of five goals per game. With a leaky defence and a dangerous attack – four goals already for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar – they are prime candidates for this bet.

Kaiserslautern vs Bayern Munich

After a shaky opener Bayern have bounced back with two wins, the second of which was an impressive annihilation of Hamburg. This weekend’s hosts Kaiserslautern have scored just two goals in their first three games which not particularly impressive given the strength of opposition. With the Bavarian giants coming to town boasting the best defence in the league (conceding just one), there seems little chance of the Red Devils breaching such a talented back-line and an odds-against price is too good to refuse.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Dortmund

Both sides aim to be title contenders come the end of the season and therefore we can expect a tight game where they will be looking to avoid defeat more than anything. If we add into this that Leverkusen’s three games this season have averaged a total of just 1.33 goals, and Dortmund’s just 2.33 – this game looks a great shout for the unders market, despite the form of BVB forward Kevin Grosskreutz (right).

Europa cup group for German teams

Copenhagen
Standard Liege
Hannover 96
Vorskla Poltava

Schalke 04
Steaua Bucharest
Maccabi Haifa
AEK Larnaca

Hannover playing some pretty football to eliminate Sevilla would be banking on the good form of Jan Schadraff and Didier Ya Konan

Schalke after their fairy tale run in the CL last season would be looking to Raul, Huntelaar in attack Howedes, Papalodopos in defence and hope the youngsters Julian Draxler and Lewis Holtby have a breakout season

Borrusia Dortmund's Mario Gotze deserved his red card against Bayer Leverkusen - former referee Markus Merk

Germany starlet dismissed during key clash at the BayArena, and former official feels the decision was justified

Borussia Dortmund's Mario Gotze deserved to be shown a red card in his side's goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen, according to former referee Markus Merk in an interview with BamS.

The 19-year-old was dismissed in the closing stages for a kick on Hanno Balitsch, and Merk reckons that given the nature of the incident, the decision was the correct one.

Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp attempted to protect his playmaker, saying: "For people who've never played football, it may look very bad, but I've seen much worse things. Mario is pretty much the last person to commit an assault."

But Merk stated: "Mr Klopp probably has a different perception. It was a clear attempt at assault, and in addition to this, he has spat at his opponent. It was an uncontrolled kick. Even if he didn't connect with the opponent, the red is absolutely necessary in that situation."

Gotze's imminent suspension will come as a blow to the Bundesliga champions, who have fallen behind Bayern Munich at the top of the table.
