Hello guys i'm trying to promote the use of natural products for skincare because a lot of people use chemicals that cause more harm that good to their skin. So people please post your natural skincare products here like foods, soaps, creams etc. And we can start a discussion about different ways we could help improve our skins colour and texture.

1. i don't know of any native names of shea butter in Nigerian language, but i know that the name Shea is derived from the Bamana language of Mali. it is used as a substitute to cocoa butter.
2. Yes it does treat acne, it also acts as a sunscreen, it helps ease arthritis pain, it reliefs sinus congestion, it promotes skin elasticity and and reduces wrinkles and it also helps in brightening the skin.
3. Now i'm talking!!!!

Tips when buying and using Shea Butter:
1.Shea Butter has a natural smell, which is not unpleasant to most people.  The smell of raw or lightly refined West African Shea varies from nutty to similar to Crisco® or shortening.  Over time the smell of the Shea Butter will diminish. If an unrefined Shea Butter has almost no smell, it is probably getting old.  Shea Butter should not stink, not matter how old it is.  It is possible for Shea Butter to go rancid.  If it does, do not use it.  If you do not like the smell of natural, raw Shea Butter, you can purchase more highly refined Shea Butter that has been de-odorized and filtered through clay.  However, we do not recommend ever buying Shea Butter that has been refined using hexane or other solvents.

2. The color of Shea Butter will vary more than you might expect.  The ultimate color of the butter will depend on the karite nuts used. Shea nuts will differ in color from almost white to yellow.  There is no way to determine the quality of the Shea Butter based solely on its color.  There is even a naturally almost saffron (golden yellow) colored Shea Butter.  But, Shea Butter shouldn't be green or very hard.  We prefer ivory or beige Shea Butter which indicates it hasn't been too highly refined.   Shea Butter that is too white was probably pretty highly refined and may not be as good at healing.

Big Question
How can Shea Butter benefit me? Shea Butter can provide relief from everything from just dry skin to many minor dermatological diseases (if you have a serious skin condition, you should see a doctor).  It has been clinically shown to provide benefits.  Here are some of the benefits of Shea Butter for the skin:

Daily skin moisturizer (face and body)
Dry skin relief
Dry scalp
Skin rash- including diaper rash
Skin peeling, after tanning
Blemishes and wrinkles
Itching skin due to dryness
Sunburn
Shaving cream to reduce razor irritation
Small skin wounds
Skin cracks
Soften tough skin on feet (especially heels)
Stretch mark prevention during pregnancy
Minor burns
Eczema
Sun and wind protection
Even skin tone
Reduce blemishes and scarring
Eliminating scalp irritation from dryness or chemical processing
Preventing bumps after shaving
Reducing acne (especially in combination with African Black Soap)
Absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue

Skin MD Natural turns the outer layer of skin into what works like an invisible pair of gloves to keep the skin's own natural moisture in and the moisture robbing elements and irritants out. It was especially formulated for the face but our first 1000 test subjects and customers convinced us it was also an outstanding body and hand lotion.

Skin MD Natural has the most full and transparent disclosure of actual ingredients in the skin care industry, and we are currently serializing these on our Facebook page.

Skin MD Natural is an alternative to conventional moisturizing lotions and protective creams. Conventional lotions only attempt to replace natural moisture with artificial moisture but they don't really work because they constantly come off and must be frequently reapplied. They also send the wrong message to your skin that it is being adequately moisturized when it is not.

Skin MD Natural also has a fantastic new humectant (an ingredient that pulls in moisture from the air). Skin MD Natural's humectant pulls in 6 times the amount of moisture than the best humectant that was available prior to our introduction.

Skin MD Natural is also vital for those people who work with their hands who know they should be wearing gloves but do not or cannot or, gloves cause them skin irritation. If you know you should be wearing gloves but are not - at least apply Skin MD Natural. Here is a video that may be of interest to you. It shows Skin MD Natural protecting skin from rock-dissolving acid.

Many hundreds of articles have been published about Skin MD Natural. To view some of these feel free to Google "Skin MD Natural".

Shielding lotions, like Skin MD Natural, have also been prominently featured on the National Skin Care Institute's web site.
