the essence of punishment should be foremost, as long as the punishment serves as a good deterrent to the offence committed, its fine. Retribution is not much of a good excuse, its too primitive.

Appropriate punishment should serve as comeuppance for the crime committed, mitigate against a repeat offence by same offender and serve as a deterrent to others.
- For some criminals, like one that has taken the life of another, capital punishment is merited comeuppance.
- There is no guarantee that imprisonment will reform any criminal, but capital punishment ensures that same would not repeat his/her offence. There is no justice in using the taxes of the victims of an heinous crime to keep the perpetrator of said crime alive in a prison.
- Capital punishment, imprisonment, fines or any other penalties, are effective deterrent only to the extent that the individual in question permits.

The debate should be on which crimes deserve capital punishment. Some criminals deserve capital punishment, preferably by hanging, as it is the most environmentally friendly.

if you are caught and deemed guilty of murder, when you should pay the price, if you want people to turn their backs on capital punishment then you must preach to people about the evil of murder, while forgiveness is an important attribute of a Christian the bible makes it very clear that he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword, simple as that, and please don't bring that story of maternal instinct, tell that when you come face to face with a serial killer

I support the death Penalty including for such crimes as gross corruption. I hate the fact that people will commit grievous crimes to society, only for society itself again to sponsor the remainder of their lives with free accommodation, feeding and clothing. It so pains me that Bode George who should be preparing for the noose is getting free welfare from the country he robbed of billions.

I FULLY SUPPORT THE DEATH PENALTY.
