Today, Yakubu of Blackburn Rovers scored two goals Arsenal FC. He has shown that he has improved his touch as well as his finishing. I feel like he should be called back (depending on how he plays) to represent Nigeria in the World Cup. He is showing that he is very fit and reasy to score goals.

What do you guys think?

Yakubu is a very accomplished but much maligned striker. He should be back in the team.

He only shows his best in clubs and worse in the national team. But anyway he deserves another chance but only after he might have performed well in 20 straight matches.

Yakubu is useless in my book.
Let us wait till middle of the season

He should keep his form to himself,

We have other capable hands,
Re: Is Yakubu Aiyegbeni Slowly Regaining Confidence Back? by Nobody: 4:47pm On Sep 19, 2011
He has never been short of confidence.

Missing a sitter doesn't mean one is off-form. He has proved himself in all teh clubs he has played in - from Maccabi Haifa to Portsmouth to Middlesborough to Everton and now in Blackburn. Even in his brief, half-season loan spell in Leicester he had close to 10 goals.

Another fact people ignore is this guy is in Top 5 highest scoring Super Eagles of all time.

Now, should he return to SE? I don't think so. I think we have a good replacement in Emenike as our Central Striker, backed-up by Peter Utaka, this Dynamo Kiev guy(can't recall his name) and fringely Martins, while the IK Uches, Ahmed Musas, Obinna Nsofors, (why are all our forwards wingers?) of this world can support from the flanks.

Missing a sitter does not mean you lost form.
Yakubu scored 11 goals in 20 appearances while on loan at Leicester last season.

yakubu does not care about the national team. he will not put in 100% for his country.
Re: Is Yakubu Aiyegbeni Slowly Regaining Confidence Back? by samdigo(m): 7:41pm On Sep 19, 2011
yakubu is a lucky striker, dosent create any goal opportunities fro himself, never beats a man and scores, he does manage to be in the right place at the right time, and manages to score, but honestly, we don't need him, his style dose no fit in to the super eagles team, wish him the best, but honestly i had more confidence in emenike than that guy
Re: Is Yakubu Aiyegbeni Slowly Regaining Confidence Back? by Brisingr(m): 8:11pm On Sep 19, 2011

Yet he is Nigeria's National team's 4th or 5th all--time highest goal scorer . Smh

being in the right place at the right time is what makes a striker. it is called 'goal sense' or 'positioning'. If it is that easy, all strikers will be scoring many goals.

In any case, luck can hardly run for you thruout your entire career. This guy has been consistent in all the 5 clubs he has played at top level.

Let's give it to him, he may not be a world class striker like Eto'o, Drogba et al, but he has proved to be a king in his own class of average 15-20 goals-a-season strikers. He deserves some respect joor

Re: Is Yakubu Aiyegbeni Slowly Regaining Confidence Back? by semid4lyfe(m): 9:31pm On Sep 19, 2011
Hmm. . . Yakubu is a proven striker at club level and I doubt of if any of the current crop of Super Eagles strikers has a better record but Yakubu doesn't exactly fit into the scheme of things in the Super Eagles right now. . . .what he has could be brought into the team by many other strikers.

I'll rather see new strikers like Michael Uchebo. . .a kanu-esque player with pace, Kim Ojo, Anthony Ujah, Simon Zenke etc in the Super Eagles than a Yakubu who's clearly seen better days back in the Super Eagles.

If I had to choose between having one of Kaita and Yakubu back in the Eagles, I'll pick Kaita as I think he's more important to the team.

Yakubu's chapter with the Super Eagles should be closed forever!!!.
