If there was a place or store just like they have abroad where one can pay a subscription E.g 5k/month then you can rent games they have in stock for 300 naira each. Won't that solve the average Nigerian gamers problem of expensive original games. We no longer have to wait for a hack to get all our games.

If it was before jailbreaking - better! But nowadays, don't be surprise that people will troop in the first month to rent and copy them on their jailbroken system and after then nobody comes again till the business wrecks.
Re: Renting Games In Nigeria by gags4u2: 9:18pm On Oct 01, 2011
What I'm saying is where too dependent on hacks. If something like what happened in this generation occurs again only the rich would be able to play
Re: Renting Games In Nigeria by ogagusps3: 9:26pm On Oct 01, 2011
Not to mention we would still be able to play regardless of a hack comes out or not.
The option should be there for people who dont want to pirate their systems like me
Re: Renting Games In Nigeria by Nobody: 9:07pm On Oct 03, 2011
same here can't pirate my ps3 will rather exchange or buy cds. Piracy kills the incentive to create games. the irony is am typing with a pirated version of windows 7. such is life but bricking the ps3 is my greatest fear.

Renting games in Nigeria would be really cool cos i have been punching figures and making researches about it. I know there are lots of hack games and people jailbreak their ps3 regardless of the disadvantages that comes with it. For someone working towards helping the Nigerian gamers by renting games to them, what do you guys think would be the challenges one would face, the price range you think is reasonable, and security cos i believe some people might rent it never to return it.

Good thinking, but I've thought this before.my solution was very simple. They go through the same thing abroad so I checked for their solution to it. All people borrowing games have to pay a subscription before they can rent it. The subscription Nigerians would pay would be monthly. Imaging paying 5k/month and renting as many games as you want butonly ably to collect 1 at a time. If you decide to keep one, you'll lose cus the value of the game would be below the subscription.

nice solution, however i think it would also have to involve some promotion to promote the gamers community; propably organising local, regional and national gaming contest. With the right effects am sure you could get all these telcoms companies to sponsor the bills since a lot of them are targeting the youth segment aggressively

You are far from reality oooh. grin

Na only home-video we bin dey try rent. But as you well know the actors where getting popular and still lived below the hype and jumped into molue.
The renters and pirators and piratee where having a filled day.

Lastly if person borrow your Game and duplicate it. ( Thank God for modern Laptops with DVD super drives grin ) What would happen to your business ?

NetFLIX cheesy
Re: Renting Games In Nigeria by digi101(m): 2:02pm On Oct 15, 2011
well that's part of the reason why apart from rentals you will have to make it a social/community bonding event (and cash prizes to the mix and tournaments alone will be making your profits!).
After all why do you think everyone went berserk when sony took the ps3 community offline awhile during there hacker crisis. Its great to have a console but believe me its no fun playing alone always!

The ideas presented here only have to face the harsh reality of the jailbreaking effect before they melt away in frustration. Well enough of my grim prophecy but running a game rental store these days might be especially challenging considering how many Nigerians have taken to jailbreaking their consoles.

BTW whatever happen to Replay 9ja they were into this kind of business?

u guys ar all right in ur different ways, however i believe that we can somehow end piracy in 9ja with good thinking. I buy d idea of incorporating other services to it like tornaments and stuff, n i agree that playing alone all the time is so not fun, u dont grow and jailbreaking ur ps3 denies u the ability to go online n play, rather u play on ur own or with friend. Anyways, this idea is still under consideration, i really would welcome more criticism about the challenges this might face.
