The Kano State Government has destroyed 42,000 bottles of assorted alcoholic drinks confiscated last week by Sharia police in a move to stop the consumption of prohibited items under the Islamic legal code.



Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso said in spite of the public destruction which took place in Hawan Kalebawa of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state, his administration was making an effort to ensure that Sharia was not politicised.

His deputy, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, said after the destruction that the previous government over-pampered the Hisbah Board and by involving its staff in partisan politics.

The deputy governor said, “We are not politicising our Sharia legal system like the previous government. We cannot introduce element of politics into it.

“This Sharia is a written content from the Holy Qur’an, Prophet’s Hadith and the collections of the Ulamas, and because of this fact, any attempt to insert anything in it like the way the previous government did, our Sharia will crumble the way theirs crumbled.”

Their Government outlaws the consumption of Alcoholic wines yet they find it morally and legally OK to get more from Value Added Tax than Lagos which generates the Bulk of VAT from alcoholic wines. Na Thunder go locate all this hypocrites

Nigerians are well advised to learn how to be law abiding citizens. If you live with a state which has prohibited certain products for transaportation and/or sale in certain areas of the state, then it behooves you to abide by the state laws. If you believe the laws are unconstitutional, then take it to court.

Both christanity and islam all prohibit the consumption of alchohol, it can affect the health of the consumer, it cause uncountable road accidents world wide, why people are raising their voice because kano state government prevent it people from something that cotribute to death or unlawful behavior?

if one should go to the kano's state house, one will find alcohol and weed there.
