Holy Chit !   That is one strong hombre, to still be on his feet with two bullet holes, especially that one in the back.

Now this is some cold-blooded evil being done by those bank robbers, but the real tragedy is that the banditos WILL be back, just as soon as the banks re-open in that university campus.

Ban banks from Nigerian university campuses NOW, and for phuck's sake, what ever happened to the common-sense precaution of writing checks for ALL purchases and payments ?

AK47 empty shell casings by the bushel-basket-full speak of sustained horror and bloodshed.  That empty AK ammo clip was obviously dropped in the heat of the operation, along with the strong-room key,  but the killers will no doubt have many more magazines to use on future assignments.

Close university campus banks NOW.

Are you trying to say there's a higher occurence of robberies among banks located in University Campuses.

That is precisely what I am saying, Edoyad.  University campuses are regarded as "soft targets" by professional bank robbery gangs, because the police guards posted on campuses are instructed to be extremely careful about the direction in which they fire their weapons, for fear of accidentally hitting students that mill all around the targetted banks.

The robbers, however, have NO concerns about who gets hit when the shooting starts, which hands them an huge tactical advantage over the police, in that specific  campus setting.   Reports from security operatives not far from today's attack cite the total of FIVE armed bank robberies recorded over the past 12 months within the campus of Babcock University, located a few miles away from the institution where today's raid occurred.

The equation is a simple one :  No more banks on campuses = No more bank robberies on campuses.

I must agree with you. Another case of very good idea implemented in a totally wrong environment.

@Topic.

Amosun must comprehensively look into this . It is unacceptable , unless culprits are brought to book ASAP, that two innocent students are now dead because of brazen lawlessness that , once again, shows our security forces to be second in potency to criminals these day. ACN governors must simply work harder to ensure that federal inefficiency does not keep translating into local insecurity taking the lives of innocent Nigerians. It is a hard task, especially as the federal government remains so incompetent and indifferent, but effective measures can still be put in place to improve general safety of lives and property.

Re: Bank Robbery At Ago Iwoye, ogun State(graphic Pix) by Nobody: 9:41pm On Nov 10, 2011
2 suspects come readily to mind.
1. Liberian refugees lodged @ d Oru Refuge Camp (next town to Ago-Iwoye)

2. The notorious Aye Confratenity.

Not the first both grp would be perpetuating such dastardly act.

Bros, don't turn this stuff into an ACN versus FG contest cos it's being an age long practice. . .This practice though found wanting with this event also has it's advantages to the school . . . . UNILAG for example has 4 banks which are the First Bank, Wema Bank, Intercontinental and the Eco-bank . . .the GTB also partake in mobile banking  . . . .  Not only do they help to relief certain banking needs of the campuses . . . They are also a huge source of revenue to the School Authorities . . . . Campus bank robberies is very minimal when compared to bank premises outside the school environs, though it now appears that the robbers are beginning to see a softer target in banks located in campuses . . .This is one of those stark reality of jettisoning security deficiencies for positive gains . . .

The report of this robbery draws similar comparison to that of Bowen In Iwo, Osun state that happened about a month back. They came in like commandos/about 50 in number and used machetes and bombs along with gun freely. something tells me they r the same set of robbers that raided Bowen.

that's because they've gone to share the spoils.

only an ignoramus would believe those were 'ordinary' robbers.

My brother, unlike some, I am not interested in playing politcs with everything. Me and you know that the FG severely underfunds the NPF in comparison to , for example, Senators, Reps, Ministers et al. That is a form of disdain and contempt towards those we expect to risk their lives keeping us safe.

Moral is low and some policemen even abet crime. Osun State had to buy APC's (armoured personnel carriers) from state funds when that should ordinarily be the duty of the FG. that is what I meant when I said "the federal government remains so incompetent and indifferent". Let us stop all the PC utterances. The NPF is grossly ill-qualified to deal with the current security challenges of Nigeria. We all know that this is a federal issue . Thus my advice for Amosun to look for local solutions while the FG remains bereft of ideas to adequately safegaurd Nigerian lives and property.
