Phil Jones' pair of eye-catching performances during England's 1-0 victories over Spain and Sweden may have prompted Fabio Capello to compare the Manchester United player to legendary figures such as Franco Baresi and Fernando Hierro, but it was Wayne Rooney who benefitted most from international week, at least as far as the Red Devils are concerned.

Rooney's three-match international ban means Capello is on the hunt for a stand-in striker for England's group games at Euro 2012 and as such had no need for his star player during this week's double header. While many of his peers jetted around the world in order to squeeze two games into the space of four/five days, Rooney took time out to ponder the need for a new garden shed, reportedly recruiting award-winning Pulmann Associates Architects to build him one.Not only will Rooney have fulfilled every man's desire to have his own shed, but United's leading scorer will be recharged and raring to go as Sir Alex Ferguson's side make the trip across the Welsh border to face a Swansea side that has the best defensive home record in the Premier League, conceding just one goal so far this season. In fact, the only player to beat Netherlands goalkeeper Michel Vorm at the Liberty Stadium is Swansea's record-singing Danny Graham, who put through his own net against Bolton.

Granted, the Swans have not yet faced a team of the calibre of United at their 20,532 capacity stadium - where the newly-promoted side held Wigan and Sunderland before embarking on a three-match winning streak against West Brom, Stoke and Bolton - but they are a side with unexpected quality running throughout. The Swans were only edged out 1-0 at Arsenal after a rare mistake from Vorm gifted Andrei Arshavin the winner, while Brendan Rodgers' charges held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in their final game before international break.

Rooney and company will have to be at their best to crack this particularly tough nut. Especially given United's relative paucity of goals in recent games and the fact that Ferguson's side haven't scored more than once in a Premier League away match since the end of September.

The Red Devils free-scoring start to the season came to an abrupt end when they where walloped 6-1 by neighbours Manchester City at Old Trafford on October 23 and they have looked a different side since. United bounced back from the City debacle with 1-0 wins over Everton and Sunderland, plus a Carling Cup victory over Aldershot and a Champions League triumph against Otelul Galati, but they are yet to once again hit their stride and have a few key injuries to contend with.

In defence, Chris Smalling is out with a toe injury and full-back Rafael is still battling a shoulder problem. Midfield quartet Ashley Young, Ryan Giggs and Tom Cleverley are all doubts, while striker Danny Welbeck pulled out of the England squad with a muscle strain and Michael Owen is sidelined for six weeks with a thigh problem. United boss Ferguson likes to rotate his much-travelled stars after an international break but his options will be limited on Saturday afternoon. At least captain Nemanja Vidic has quit Serbia and the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick are out of favour with England.

Swansea player to watch: Joe Allen - Carmarthen-born Allen is one of Swansea's brightest young stars and has already begun to establish himself as a Wales international under new boss Gary Speed, featuring and impressing once again in the Dragons' 4-1 win over Norway last weekend. The 21-year-old can play in either a forward role or as a goal-scoring midfielder, not unlike his childhood hero Paul Scholes. The diminutive Allen said this week that the recently retired 5ft 7in United star helped him believe he could make it to the top, adding: "I am a Manchester United fan as well so I grew up watching them week in and week out and I admired him." Allen will no doubt be keen to impress against the team he supports.

Manchester United player to watch: Anderson - The Brazil international has taken his time to prove himself as either a defensive or attacking midfielder but he is finally edging towards the latter after scoring two goals and turning provider for another in his eight Premier League games this season. With Michael Carrick forcing his way back into the team in the last two matches and Tom Cleverley's return to Old Trafford, Anderson really needs to step it up. Such is the lack of creativity in the United midfield of late, Rooney has been dropped back to provide it in recent matches, but with Welbeck and Owen injured and Dimitar Berbatov's agent seeming engineering a move to join Samuel Eto'o at Anzhi Makhachkala, Rooney should be back up top and all eyes will be on Anderson to provide a creative spark.

Key Battle: Michel Vorm v Wayne Rooney. Manchester United's leading Premier League goalscorer (9), Rooney, will come face to face with Swansea's last line of defence. We all know about Rooney's qualities - though he hasn't scored for five league games - but 28-year-old Vorm has been a revelation and already looks like one of the bargains of the season following his £1.5 million move from Utrecht in the summer. In 11 games, he has made 46 saves and kept five clean sheets, but keeping a sixth will be his toughest test yet.

Trivia: When Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers was 14, he spent a year on trial with Manchester United, under a certain Alex Ferguson.

Stats: None of the 16 matches between Swansea and Manchester United have ever finished as an away win, with 12 home wins and four draws.

I just hate when you guys paste all this bu-llshit on the front page of this forum.I hope they are paying your dearly for the shi-t?Because it is all about money, superiority and masterminding the game.

I am yet to see anything about racism in english football on the front page. They treat black players like shi=t,money they get notwithstanding and here we are glorifying the same league, instead of creating our own game and be proud of what we got.

Football. It is more like religion these days,it is beginning to twist the mind of black people to just follow the game without understanding, just like christianity and islam.
