A Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP in charge of administration at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja Adams Audu has allegedly shut a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG inside the Police College, Ikeja GRA.

Worshippers who spoke on condition of anonymity told P.M.NEWS that three months ago DCP Adams Audu, a Muslim ordered his security detail to lock up all the gates leading to the church christened ‘Solution Centre’ located along Joel Ogunaike Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
He did not disclose his reasons for locking the gates to the church but a police officer who did not want his name in print attributed it to security precautions in the light of the Boko Haram threat all over the country.

But worshippers disagree, saying that DCP Audu, a Muslim, might be uncomfortable with the Christians worshipping in the church.

P.M.NEWS gathered that many police officers serving in the state command worship in the church on Sundays.
Contacted on phone, pastor of the church, Senior Pastor Ezekiel Ekpinkhio confirmed that the gates leading to the church had been shut, adding that he had written to the state Commissioner of Police over the incident.
“We wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Compol Yakubu Alkali over the matter a month ago, but there has been no response,” he stated.
When P.M.NEWS visited DCP Audu in his office to get his reaction on the matter, he sent his aide to tell our reporter that he was too busy to comment on the issue.

Of course he will have a story ready for you. The genuineness of that story may or may not be proven.

What is a redeemed church doing inside a federal educational institution. The law recognizes 3 official religious institutions - Catholics, protestants and Muslims inside any educational facility. People should not trivialize, politicize or sensationalize issues.

Ode, so Redeem is not a protestant institution?

@aloy

The church is not meant to bear redeemed, it will be a protestant church that will be used by all protestants, if you have ever visited any of them, that is what they have, no anglican, no redeemed, no winners, laws are meant to be followed jare.

Chai your comprehension faculty baffles me and trying to justify the action of that police is pretty lame, Anglicans, CAC, Redeem etc are all protestant churches.

Do you know that a mosque is currently being erected in the CBN (kwara state) but there's no provision of such for the christian workers. Where's the equity?, This is the reason why governance should'nt be mixed with religion in the first place.

No I understand what he is saying. It's like the law only allow one church in govt facilities and that church should be shared by all the big names within the protestant family. That way, we will not have hundreds of churches lined up govt facilities. My suggestion is to close down all mosques and churches in govt facilities except the tertiary institutions.
Re: Police Chief Shuts Church Inside Police College by icez: 1:27pm On Nov 19, 2011
IMHO, building of churches and mosques in govt offices should be stopped.

Anybody who wants to pray should go to a church, shrine, synagogue, temple or mosque within the town. cool

Nigerians are ever ready to bring down the roof in the name of religion yet they are everything but godly in the way they deal with one another. It is a country where, in spite of countless religious houses, religion has failed.

Why should government resources or facilities (including land) be expended on religion? Yet they claim that Nigeria is a secular country.

I beg to point you guys in a different Direction.

It is quite Evident that the Boko Haram Sect attack Two Institutions in the North : The Nigerian Police and The Church

In this Both Exist in the same location, which make possible hits, A-DOUBLE-COMBO One.

The DCP do have a point, but would have done better If he communicated the threats effectively to the Church Leadership, At best they can install anti-missile gadgets (if they can afford it) around the church premises, and if they can't and the security threat is high, then the Church Should Move Forward (humorously to their permanent site.)

Also, Not all Muslims are Fanatics, My Boss is a Muslim and He is very humble, down to earth, kind, with a listening hear and support. I love working with him

the DCP should have given a reason. but this is a sensitive issue so I can see the wisdom in the step he took.

I think you are a fool if you don't have anything to say is best you short your dam mount. In any democracy the only institutions that is allowed to close any institution is the law court. Except in a case of emergency where the constitution allowed a constitutionally appointed administrator the power to close institutions down for national security. This is a case of DPO waving the white flag before B' haram does anything. In retrospect the DPO may not even be christianphobia but a case of where there is no leadership, no sense of nationality or dam right not having enough IQ to run a country. The President is hiding from B'haram which security service man and woman want to risk his/her neck. The President is even afraid to condemn their act. The country do not have leader, period. Lets bring the British back to rule us. You heard the Pope begging African leaders not to 'rob the people's hope'. This is no joke people European and Americans are disguistedl at the rate of theft of the continent treasury. In most cases other African counties do not have much but Nigeria have a lot. But your leaders have thief them all in the name of democracy dividend. When your oil money runs-out in 50 years time, you will eat sand. BYE BYE
