lol, I laff, you don't need to do a campaign for paypal to come into Nigeria. Paypal is a big business that knows Nigeria exist and has also done the ups and downs of introducing its business in Nigeria and feels its not time for them to come. Do we have to beg or mobilize ourselves to get them into the country? And moreover there are also other payment platforms that can substitute for this.Did we mobilize to get ValueCard, MasterCard, VisaCard, Google into Nigeria? I suggest you mobilize to initiate something better.Good luck sha, ![]() |

Omo_Tier1: Bros lets not live in denial , there are no other operational reasons other than 419/yahoo yahoo, PayPal and their customers have suffered alot in the hands of Nigerian criminals, they have to take that business decision to exclude Nigeria. My former lecturer who is cyber crime consultant carried out a research on eBay/Paypal fraud and 9 out of 15 suspects were Nigerians and he passed the finding to Paypal. If they re-admit Nigeria then eBay may have to review their partnership with Payapl because many eBay customers will not want receive payment from Nigeria through Paypal |

This is a lazy and folish idea. Who is paypal? can't nigerian internet entreprenuers creat thier own paypal clone? Very funy. U what to use protest to achieve what? Paypal is a pvt company. The try to minimize risk. The risk potential is higher than the returns they could get operating in nigeria. By the way, how many nigerians use credit cards for online payment, to start with? Create ur own payment gateway, and paypal will be interested in collaborating with it. 1 Like |

Omo_Tier1: May God bless your brain so that you can reason pure more. I have evidence of what you put up there. I sent PayPal an email asking them why Nigerians should be exempted from using their service. I stated in my mail that if cybercrime was a reason some of the included countries has higher cybercrime rate than Nigeria. My brother, My mail was replied about 24hrs later telling me online financial crime was not the problem but THE ENVIRONMENT WAS NOT MADE CONDUCIVE ENOUGH for the service to start. I must tell you all we only need are responsible and responsive leaders to get things right. No solution until we get things right. |

justwise:While I may not have your former lecturer research findings to peruse it, I will like to say His findings is completely at variance with that of SOCA! As for your e-bay link, I think with the underground work of google in Nigeria already boozing in the business and government circles, do not be surprise at e-bay making a U-turn over night! I still maintain my stand that there are far more cybe criminals in China compared to Nigeria, so why hasn't paypal pull the plug on China? I still think paypal may well feel e-trading in Nigeria has not saturated the Nigeria society to a point where it would require them to deploy the resources needed to do buisness in Nigeria. Looking at the population size, paypal may well require a full functional operational base in Nigeria if she is to succeed. Again, has Nigeria got the required financial legal frame work in place to aid e-payment facilities of the type that paypal offer? I know e-transact, verves and a few others already operate in Nigeria but not in a global operational manner like paypal. kanor:Yes, so many have thought of this idea and mind you we have Nigerians who have developed e-payment systems similar to paypal, but the market saturation just wasn't there but all that is changing. With mobile phone companies now offering e-payment facilities albeit not fully operational, just watch what will happen in the next five years. As for your question about how many Nigerians use credit cards for online payment. You need to understand that where there is no water, there is no fish! If the e-market is no where in Nigeria, how do you expect credit card transactions to blossoms? |

Don't think paypal would ever accept payment from Nigeria Our reputation has been soiled, downtrodden and Bottom wiped all over the world It's a slap in the face of the few honest people. . . ![]() Might not even work as quite a lot of international and ebay sellers do clearly state a 'No Nigeria' policy |
| Re: Paypal Account Can Accept Nigerians For Real: Open A Paypal Account by justwise(m): 1:14pm On Nov 23, 2011 |
Omo_Tier1: Chinese govt got more grip on cyber security than Nigerian govt, China is a huge manufacturing country, second largest economy in the world and sell far more on ebay than Nigeria, the gain from China out weight the risk so its a sensible business decision to ''tolerate' China than Nigeria. Paypal or Ebay can't trust Nigeria govt officials to be able to achieve a positive result in a case of fraud, lets face it, our reputation hasn't done us any favour. |

its simple- THERE ARE NO SECURITY STRUCTURES IN NIGERIA. If someone steals your money online, he can vanish into thin air like smoke |

justwise:Sorry you are muddling things up! I do not get this your 'reputation' thingy! By the way, e-payment fraud allegations are first handle through internal mechanism of the governing financial services investigative apparatus of that country. |

It's amazing how people think, the problem is not yahoo yahoo but like someone side no infasture on ground, they have loads of 419 guys here in the UK and they still operate, we need our government to put things in place, the Internet Market is a billion dollar Market one that would create thousands of jobs and make life better for loads of people |

we are not asking them to accept Nigerians immediately but to give us their own terms which may be more stringent than normal possible give them time to review. I have a good idea on what they can do to allow Nigerians, may not be direct access, we are reviewing our proposal with international endorsement. Just join the group and be up dates as we will need your signature and support to add weight to it. Thanks |

justwise:Sorry mate, I think you are getting it all wrong! The last of the Global Security report still showed that high financial crimes and the likes (corruption another name) are more ripe in developed world than anywhere else. The facts are there for all who care to see. Just because alot of sensationalism has gone into this Nigeria is corrupt/criminal does not mean we should pay blind eyes to what the REAL numbers are saying. Do not get me wrong, WE NEED TO FIGHT CORRUPTION AND CRIME IN NIGERIA TO A STAND STILL! Not sure if you really aren't aware of how financial crimes investigation are carried out! Have you ever had a payment dispute on paypal? Did you hear paypal saying they are going to call the met Police to carry out any investigation? I still maintain that it is more to do with market environment, legal frame work than the yahoo yahoo excuses people keep banding about. |
| Re: Paypal Account Can Accept Nigerians For Real: Open A Paypal Account by Omo_Tier1(m): 2:08pm On Nov 23, 2011 |
And just to add, do you know even if you have your paypal account in UK, if you try to carry out any transaction using Nigeria based IP, your payment will be refered? Why is that? |

| Re: Paypal Account Can Accept Nigerians For Real: Open A Paypal Account by justwise(m): 2:49pm On Nov 23, 2011 |
Omo_Tier1: The financial crime maybe higher in developed countries but the possibility of tracing, arresting and prosecuting a suspect is far higher in developed countries than its in Nigeria and Payapl don't need to bribe police in developed countries to do their job unlike Nigeria No country is crime-free but as a business organisation, they have to weight the options whether to allow Nigeria to tarnish their brand image or exclude them and gain customer's trust. You are still in denial and that is the problem. I have had Paypal account for more than 7yrs now and i have had issues with some ebay sellers which Paypal stepped in and i got my money back in more than 3 occasions. Yes if its a big fraud case the police will be called in and the police will not be bribed by the suspect to get off the hook. |
