Spurs Ready To Launch £500,000 Swoop For Wycombe Wonderkid Ibe! by Relax101(m): 1:18am On Nov 26, 2011
Tottenham are ready to raid League One strugglers Wycombe Wanderers with a £500,000 offer for wonderkid Jordan Ibe.
The schoolboy, who turns 16 in December, alerted a host of Barclays Premier League suitors when he scored a sensational strike against Sheffield Wednesday last month.
The goal - which made Ibe the youngest-ever scorer in Football League history at 15 years and 355 days, created controversy after he was curiously booked by referee Christopher Sarginson after celebrating with his jubilant family.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Fulham are all believed to have dispatched scouts to monitor him since but Spurs have jumped to the top of the queue and ready to bring him to White Hart Lane.
Wycombe captain Gareth Ainsworth earlier this month urged Ibe, who has made four senior appearances so far this year after his debut in August, to stay put at Adams Park before leaving for a bigger club.

'Hopefully he can make a big name for himself,' Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio.

'But even more I hope he does it at Wycombe to start off with because we want to keep hold of players here.
'He's got all you could ever wish for in an up-and-coming youngster.'
However, Wycombe, 23rd in League One, could be forced to cash in on Ibe's talents to bring in much need reinforcements to boost their survival bid this season.

Jordon Ibe, 15, set for highest level, says Wycombe boss

Ibe was booked for celebrating his goal with members of his family
Wycombe forward Jordon Ibe, the club's youngest Football League goalscorer, has been backed to become a Premier League star by his boss Gary Waddock.

The 15-year-old netted in his first senior start on Saturday, a 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

"We just want to make sure he goes on and fulfils that potential he's got," Waddock told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"And possibly, with the talent he's got, he could go and play at the highest level."

He scores in the game, becoming the youngest Wycombe player to do so since the club entered the Football League in 1993
The Wycombe youth product had already made six substitute appearances for the Chairboys before the visit of the Owls.

But the youngster, who attracted reported attention from Manchester United in the summer, rewarded Waddock's faith in him, scoring in the first half with a superb run and finish, 10 days short of his 16th birthday.

"If it was a senior player you'd be saying 'what a fantastic goal'," the Wycombe boss continued.

"He's 15 and to do that on your debut tells you the quality the lad's got.

"He trains with us and we see the talent he's got every time he's in our training sessions, and why not [start him]?

"I took the age out of it and looked at the player on merit and he deserves his chance. Did he take it? He certainly did."

Ibe's jubilant celebrations were temporarily tarnished when he received a yellow card from referee Chris Sarginson for rushing over to his family, who were in the Adams Park stands.
