The woman and the foreigners, in their 20s and 30s and believed to be students of a private college, were picked up at an apartment in Puchong, Selangor.

Cocaine weighing 1.76kg, with a street value said to be around RM500,000, was found hidden in a modified compartment of a luggage bag at the apartment in the 8.45pm raid on Tuesday.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crimes Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said they believed the drug, wrapped in several packages, was meant to be smuggled to Latin America as there was no demand for cocaine here.

The five suspected traffickers have been remanded until Dec 13 to assist police in their investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

Comm Noor Rashid said police were investigating how long the suspects had been operating from their rented hideout and how many drug mules they had since recruited.

“We believe this is just the tip of the iceberg. Many women are being enticed although there are some genuine cases of those being exploited by such syndicates,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

“Initial investigations showed the female suspect would go to entertainment centres in the country to scout around for local women willing to be drug mules.

“These willing partners would be paid a hefty sum for them to have a flamboyant lifestyle upon their success in delivering the drugs to the earmarked destinations,” Comm Noor Rashid said, adding that police were concerned about the development as drug mules chose to take the risk despite being fully aware of their illegal acts.

“Equally alarming is the involvement of young single women in the illicit trade,” he said.

Comm Noor Rashid said the involvement of African nationals in drugs trafficking was showing an upward trend, adding that among the 173 Africans arrested so far this year, 139 were Nigerians.

Last year, out of 65 Africans arrested, 50 were Nigerians.

Comm Noor Rashid said police intended to weed out such syndicates from flourishing and using Malaysia as a transit point to smuggle drugs.

@Justwise , yes it is a south Africa number but dialing from overseas you have to include south Africa dialing code which is( +27). so back to it now . Justwise having seen and understand your numerous advises here in this forum it is really nice and okay i have really enjoyed it long all times .I personally want to apply for Latvia visa here in south Africa . that is why i said and tells the poster to lets see and talk on how we could relate on issues and i will like the contribution of yours and advise as well .you have been giving much to this forum , so am awaiting your response and how possible is it applying from a country that is not yours before i close this i had wanted to apply from Nigeria and i was told they do not have embassy in Nigeria,i also read from this TRAVEL forum by a poster that i can apply through Hungarian embassy, when i got there they said Latvia handles all consular matters themselves , so i sent a mail to there embassy in south Africa and Egypt if i can post my documents to them .In there response i was told i could only apply in person physically that is the agreement from Schengen that applications would be dealth with physically with thumbprints, and moreso if am sending documents by post it is at owners risk, cos they would not be liable to any loss of document what so ever.
I will like to know if anyone has applied for LATVIA visa from south africa before to please contribute as well if possible should link me with my mobile number or email address +27836640918. email ( musa_adewale@yahoo.com)

How deluded and below standard can some posters be on this forum? Where in the OP's post does it says he has made so much money eh? what the op might be refering to so much money might be peanut to many and doesnt construe how some of you have interpreted it, to a new person abroad giving his background even equavalent of £5000 is huge huge money, if you lots want to address the question put to you simply do other than questioning the OP.

What right does anyone have to ask him where and how he made his money? and at Vicj how could say say Europe doesn't need someone like him? you know the type of people Europe need? and you think they need someone like yourself too love?
Re: Advise Pls From Southafrica by GuluvaGG(m): 2:06pm On Dec 12, 2011
^^^^^^

Are you able to make £5000 in 2 months start-up anywhere in the world including your own country?

The poster doesn't have a work permit so the contract he talks about(if it exists) is illegal. The visa that he got which he has now over-stayed gave him the right to come to SA and spend money not to make money even if legit. So what he has done is unlawful.

He's now holding a Section 22 permit which gives him asylum seeker status pending the outcome of his refugee application. Home affairs will reject his application because will have failed to prove that his life was in danger due to
persecution of anykind from his home country. Home affairs usually grants asylum to gäy people since they already know that they are being persecuted
Re: Advise Pls From Southafrica by dalebutt1: 3:03pm On Dec 12, 2011
@ Gulu, Yes you can make more than that depends on your area of specialisation and experience, thats not the case in op's situation and am not saying op has made such money, because that would be incorrect, I hope you do understand my post or his, none of those posts say he has made that amount.  the first time i travelled was the uk, after over a year and half stay i bought a land of around 400k naira, back then although i was younger than the op, but that money made me feel ontop of the world, and its not asif i came from a poor family in Nigeria, my both parents are working and high earners but 400k to me was a huge huge amount of money how much more the op.  And to some the money is peanut.

Nobody is saying working on a visitor's visa is not a crime or anything please I urge you to be the first to stone the op if you hadnt done anything illegal in your life.

I am not interested by the way of giving advise to the op as i have little knowledge of S.A, and I do not have much information for him on his europe prospects, but I am against you or anyother person who just want to question the way op has made his money without addressing his post, its completely out of order as none of you have the right to question him.

I am against criminals but that doesnt not give me the right to suspect anyone before being legitimately found guilty of any crime, you people should put your homes in order before castigating anyone.

OP is 23 years. he knows whatever he is into if legal or not none of you will be there when anything back-fires if he is indeed into some dodgy dealings. So if you are like me, that do not have any information for the op in other to help him in making his decision then i suggest you should seize posting, as i do not think i even want to learn about some section 22 of some overated south africa

It's people like the poster who contribute to the bad image that Nigeria has and you are eloquently excusing his unlawful actions by providing some sympathetic reasons to justify illegality in a foreign land and you further go on to suggest that we should not question it since we "do not have enough information". Why should we not question or even judge a person who admits to over-staying his legal welcome and proceeds to ignore the labour laws of a country that allowed him entry in good faith? He then boasts of how he has made enough money to go globetrotting, money that is untraceable and non taxable. All the while he gives praise to God Almighty for guiding him through his unlawful conduct. The work that he has done might not have contributed to damaging our society and environment in fact maybe the work he did made a good contribution to South Africa overall but it still remains illegal and we are judging him based on that.

Because he over-stayed his visa, his entire stay and everything he does in SA will be built on a illegal foundation. If we were wrong about him he would've been quick to show us that he is legit so our assumption that circumstance has made him delve into dodgy avenues will prevail.

@ Gulu, to start with

If we were wrong about him he would've been quick to show us that he is legit so our assumption that circumstance has made him delve into dodgy avenues will prevail.

No he wouldn't be quick to prove your assumptions are wrong, because you do not understand that, to him you are just a faceless person on a forum, he has no idea who you are yourself and its easy for anyone to portray good behavious especially on a forum like this. I take it if I was the op i will ignore and not respond to assumptions from people like you

I abhor crime, but I would however not desist from pointing out error in peoples judgement. if you want to persecute the op for staying illegally in S.A i assume you want to demonstrate an attitude of good ambassador of Nigeria, then I susgest you should tell all Nigerians living illegally in western countries to come back and not find means to legalise their stay and when they come back you should aswel find a suitable and durable employment for them, aside that I would like to tell you he isnt the 1st Nigerian to overstay a visit visa. British citizens do overstay, Irish do. Americans do, Australians do yes but not as much as us, but that's down to our economic standard and lack of job.

He then boasts of how he has made enough money to go globetrotting, money that is untraceable and non taxable.

Please stop pontificating ,and kindly refer to the original post, op wasn't boasting, are you south african? if not you do not have the right to even accuse him of overstaying or working illegally in SA

So many Nigerians overstay their visas, and then later legalise themselves in some way and have now become citizens of good countries.
