@ all, i would be going to pay my servis fees next week at cutonou. To avoid any form of problems especially at the border, i intend going with my nigerian passport, complete with the vaccination card. What do you think of this? Is there a better way of this without border troubles? Urgent replies pleaseeeee

u can only make use of photocopy of ur information page alone if not...........they will make you pay @ d border upon sighting ur passport..

I am applying for undergrad. I was also tempted to use d expiring one. My passport expires october. I was told the embassy cannot issue a 2 year visa on a passport expiring in 2 months.

Can someone in the house verify this?

If I can get a july date den I suppose I have crossed the hurdle, since my passport wud b expiring 6 months from d july date. Goin 4 grad studies thou. Wud want to knw d schl u intend goin to, but since its a public forum, I wudn't wnt to throw such questn. Wud try to create a dummy mail 4 messenger..

Well, application to us schls could b energy sapping if u don't apply early enough. So I suggest you start as early as possible. I did have my GRE exam on d 5th of may last year, and toefl much later. So I encourage u to have this exams as soon as possible if u re yet to..

Go to usnews.com, petersons.com to get d list of top ranked universities that specialize in ur course of interest.I am an engineering student as well but nt elect., and I surmise u shld b aware by nw that electrical engineering(graduate) is very competitive. So my candid advice is that u get to work as fast as u can..

This is my 2 cents. The gurus in d house would have a better insight to ur situation. Best of luck

Sorry this is coming late. As for your question about if you get admission from another school with TA/RA, all you need do is to resume at the school in Indiana and get them transfer your sevis to the new school.

I would suggest you find out time to go through the pages of this thread. As for the probability of getting the US Visa, I think it is for you and God to determine. By this I mean, you should pray about it committing your interview into the hands of God and most especially, be positive about it. When you are positive, it gives you the confidence you need to think and answer the VO rightly. As for the statement, there are some other things you would need to have like your documents (i.e. Passport, I20, OND results, WAEC certificates amongst others. Lastly, you necessarily need not know anyone in your state but when you get there, you can always make new friends.

You could ask them to send you your sevis ID once it is generated to enable you book your visa interview appointment.

The university want you to send $8,000 before they issue your i-20 document to you? This is weird, bearing in mind that you once sound as if you have everything sorted out and you already booked for june or july for your visa interview.... Please correct me if I am mistaking you for someone else.

You need to first receive your admission packet from the university which will include your i-20 document. On the I-20 form you will get to see your student sevis fees number and your school code which you will use in paying the sevis fee of $200. Afterwards you go ahead to pay the visa application fee of #26,400 at Gtbank. Thereafter you will be able to book for your student visa interview/appointment.

I booked AP already for june coz my first skool of choice has sent my i-20 since febuary aong time ago . I just got an admission with another skoo which awarded me 12k student gran and 1600 work prohram . But they insist me paying 8k that remains on the total tution before they issue my i-20 . Don't know how to convince them to send the i-20 and I think going to the embassy wit the funding from skool will increase my chances of getting stamped . Advice me now and don't bleep

You do not need to get the I-20 form in physical before you book appointment.

DS160 is a form that you fill online. When you finish, a confirmation number will be generated for you. While filling your appointment schedule form, the confirmation number will be required. So, the first thing you need to do, is to fill the DS 160 form.Just google DS160 form. While filling DS160, your SEVIS number will be asked. You will be interviewed base on the information you filled in DS160. So, carefully fill it. If you make any mistake, you can refill this form as many times as possible. A new confirmation number will always be generated.

Act fast now cos I do not know when you are resuming. July & August date are gone for Abuja. .Even Sept is almost gone.Last time I checked, Appointments are only available from September 20th. You know why, politicians dey go summer o. Lagos still get July 20th to August.
