You can still choose this option after you have booked an appointment, just go to cancel appointment and tick it and click opt in

When you cancel an already booked appointment, is it possible to immediately reschedule another appointment should incase an early date is available? Please I need a practicable advice.
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by kpolli(m): 11:53am On Jun 06, 2012
Your not to cancel the appointment, just click on cancel appointment on the left corner of the screen. . . Then u wud see an option to have the system look for available earlier dates and immediately schedule u for that date. . . .

Oh, sorry I actually wanted to ask with respect to rescheduling already booked appointment and not the outright cancellation. So, the way to go is to login and click on reschedule appointment, then you click on cancel appointment bla bla, huh?

bypassit: @house,find reason stated by the US Embassy.

We do not limit people from reapplying after they have been refused under Section 214(b), the interviewing consular has been given the responsibility to ascertain your eligibility for a non immigrant visa. In order for a different decision, one of two things has to happen: one -- if you have information that was not discussed during the initial interview and shows that you are actually eligible for a visa, then the Officer can make a decision based on the new information. Two -- if your personal situation has changed significantly since the previous interview, then a different outcome is possible.
Now i do not know what happened and where i went wrong, probably it was because of the elapsed date on my I-20 because it was written i should be in US not later than the 06=04=2012 and i applied for VISA on the 1ST OF June and uptil 4th,i didnt have a VISA yet.
The school asked me they will defer the admission and send me another i-20 for me to re-apply and have enough time to process.
Please anyone has idea what should be done because i already emailed the embassy and that was what they told me.

Having clarified that the elapsed date is the only possible reason for your denial (if it was due to fake docs or other wrong doings, u would av bn handed a 10yr ban) I would suggest you defer your admission to fall which is around the corner (if possible cus I guess you are a summer applicant) or spring. You should also request for a new I-20. I am very sorry bro, its better to delay a lil bit to get gold than rush (try to bend rules, wch is hardly possible) and get disappointed. My 2cents

Don't be confused, all you've written up there can't stop them from giving you that visa. You are still within the limited time grace. I'm telling you some get theirs on the exact resumption date on their I-20. About the 214(b), it means you don't satisfy them enough that you are returning, I have my own 214(b) too here and I'm where one VO said I didn't convinced her enough to be. Well, defer and try it again.

free R1:

But he never mentioned he had any letter from the school and his visa wud av bn issued 4 days after resumption.1 thing I know is, u can hardly bend rules in US, like I said earlier, if the school has a restrict policy abt resumption, then that could have been the reason. Considering SQUARED's (nt sure of his username) experience, his I-20 had a spelling error, according to him, he was told to get a new I-20 with d change effected that if he(d VO) approved his visa it wud cus probs 4 both of dem @ POE.
Overall, we should make sure our docs are on check and get interviewed way before our resumption date to avoid any wahala.

Hi free R1,

Yea, you are referring to Square65 in Nov 2011. He is my friend, we call each other before and after, even in US. His issue was miscalculation of tuition fee on his I-20, that was why he was asked to get a new I-20 carrying the correct sum before the visa can be approved. Getting an extension of arrival date isn't new except the school says ''NO'', even that doesn't concern the embassy.

@imperiouxx, what is the limited time grace(I really don't know this, so pls tell)? Out of curiosity, (cus u said its not the embassy's biz) how would you prove you are non-immigrant if you get to the US 4-5 days after resumption where the school has a policy not to enroll after resumption date? From what I know (av nt been 2 the US ooo) homeland security can deny u entry and bounce u back to your country if they suspect any wrong.
Being in the US and illegible to enroll is definitely a wrong.

If the DOB you have on your i-20 does not correspond with the one on your international passport. I strongly advice you report this to your University and have them send you another one as quickly as possible, because DOB is a very important means of identification with reference to your other details. Best of Luck.

Like I said earlier and still saying it again, he is not the first that will be interviewed close to his resumption or on the resumption date. I dug some events for you to see that you still have to study this thread very X3 well before you can continue giving advice or assumptions. There are many more which I can't locate now. The strict policy about resumption from the school you keep saying doesn't concern the embassy. The highest you get from the school would be you have to defer your admission.

And to bypassit, I know something is wrong with your DS160 or the info you presented to them and only if you won't conceal anything from me, write me on imperiouxx at yahoo dot com, I would log in because of you for discussion.

GLORY BE TO GOD,

I HAVE BEEN GRANTED MY STUDENT VISA ON THURSDAY 12TH AND THE FUNIEST THING IS THE DEADLINE DATE ON MY I-20 IS 13TH WHICH IS FRIDAY, AND MY SCHOOL TOLD ME THAT I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL APRIL BEFORE COMING COS I CAN NO LONGER BE ENROLLED BUT I NEED ADVICE,COS I HAVE GOTTEN MY TICKET TO LEAVE FRIDAY AND I NEED TO KNOW IF I WILL BE ALLOWED IN WHEN I GET TO US AT THE PORT OF ENTRY, ALSO DO I NEED TO HAVE MONEY WITH ME, I GOT PLACES TO STAY THO.

He got his passport with visa on it on the 15th without the embassy nullifying his approval and wrote this a month after in US which he entered later than his I-20 resumption date.

pls everyone, i am the luckiest, my story start like this, i got my visa approved on the 12th of jan which was my appointment date and it was a day before the deadline on my i-20, now i managed to get to the us feb 10 but my visa was issue 18th of january,

the big problem now is i want to defer my course till may ...........

I will advise that u re-schedule the appointment. 17th is still far to me. If u have any doubts before u face the consular, it will definitely affect your confidence (which to me is the most important thing, and God ofcourse). U have the right to resume 2 weeks after resumption. I got my visa 3 days after my school resumed. Though, I didn't sleep 5 more nights in Naija (got it on Wed, jet out Monday morning, lolz).......

He didn't bend the rule and entered US successfully and still advice another person that up to 2 weeks after resumption sef never bad.

bomly(f): 9:21am On Aug 10, 2010:

Hello House,

I am still looking for appointment date, if anyone knows how to help me out with this please PM me. My school resumes on the 16th August. six days from today.

And on the fourth day, she got her visa approved and got her passport back with visa on it the third day which was 17th, a day after resumption on her I-20 and happily in US as we speak.

bomly(f): 2:52am On Aug 14, 2010:

Hello House, You all were very supportive, it wasn’t easy but it was worth the try, I got my Visa and this was how it all went......
Consular: Started typing and after a min he gave me a card to go pick up my Visa.

JESUS WHAT A LIFE OF JOY. ITS NOT A GOOD FEELING TO BE REFUSED BUT IT’S THE BEST TO BE REFUSED ON MONDAY AND ACCEPTED ON FRIDAY.

For those of you preparing to go get your Visa try to understand your past course of study and why you want to go to the USA, Its 5 – 10minutes interview but it determines your chances so try to give it your best at all cause.

So you need to know what you are arguing about my friend.

You better stop this pay your sevis fee here in Nigeria mouthing. This your sure link can't it be mentioned? So, if I give you money here in Nigeria for sevis fee and you travel to cotonou or you get someone to help pay the fee in the US, does it then mean that the sevis fee was paid here in Nigeria? So, to you the place where money was collected and where the payment was made are now the same? You better stop this your misleading assertion.

Well I think everyone on this thread should have known by now that sevis fee cannot be paid in Nigeria, at least at this point in time. Anybody who has got any unknown method besides the two known means (stated above) should please be confident enough to state it here.

Wealthpos please note, this would be my last reaction to you on this issue. I think I have made my point clear enough on this issue.

Your sense of argument truly baffles me. It wasn't so compulsory you responded to his post and besides, he already stated that he knows the fees isn't paid in Nigeria and he is only willing to ease people the stress of going to Cotonou to pay. What you could have just done is to advise people to thread with caution and not trying to make him look dubious.

It depends on the school's policy and that was why I also asked her the date on her I-20. I currently work with my school's International Welcome Center where I just learnt the importance of those little things and I remembered it almost caused a challenge for me when I resumed because my program advisor said I was late. Anyways, she should upgrade her admission to fall and get them to send her a new I-20 to enable her reapply.

Sure I'm not disputing the fact that schools can say NO or YES depending on their policy and what has that got to do with the embassy that they might retrieve already issued visa? lolz. They won't just issue the visa ni if they feel it's too late to meet up. Well boss,I will try call you one of these days and hope you are good?

Must you comment on the matter/issue that is not directly linked to you? Let the person in question respond to me and not you sir. I have made my point clear on the known (genuine) location and means via which sevis fee can be paid and which you yourself know.
