How many people visit dentists here anyways. Getting them to the hospitals sef na war, until they cant move on their own.

Volume of trade and repeat clients would imply that more doctors are richer than dentists, but yes i now agree: some well positioned dentists are making a pile too.

*ENT used to be Otorhinolaryngology when i was doing Integrated Science.

Haha.  When i was young, i went to a dentist in a public hospital.  There were alot of patients.  He did the old people's teeth for free though.
I also sometimes checked this dentist office in Abuja in Nicon.  He had a lot of patients too.  Generally though, Nigerians don't have bad teeth as much as other people but it's not as rare as many people think.
Sure the volume for doctors is much larger considering the different ailments that affects the human body.  Plus people's disregard for their health.  Doctors will keep making money.  My disgust is that some medical practitioners are not in the business of saving lives primarily but in the business of profit.

so you want a course that'll fully arm you to give your clientel (or patients in this case) CRAZY bills and you wana venture into a humanitarian profession. hope you have your thinking caps on?

keenn: Dentistry is a 6yrs durationaL course leading to the award of BDS(bachelor of Dental Surgery).then followed by one year housemanship + one year NYSC. The BDS degre is not a classified one, unlike other course of study that award first class,secend class upper and lower...(A doctor is a doctor, inrespective)
First year involves basic sciences(phy,chm,bio,math etc). In this class, they are often regarded as pre-med student. A required persantage is allowed into the med schl upon successfl performance.
Second year(part 1) entail anatomy,phy and biochem. Succesfl performance at the professional exam lead to part 11
Third year(part 11) entails pathology and pharmacology and oral biology
Forth year entails medicine,surgery,radiology, anaesthetics, opthalmology,etc except obstetrics amd gyne
Fifth and sixth year is the dental cousre proper.

The whole course structure is so overwhelming and bulky,that i must confess. Persistent study and determination is the impetus needed. The training to become a dentist requires time sacrifice, it is the most bulky and resource tasking among all medical courses. But the gains following d dental practise upon graduatiion is worth taking the drill for.

None of them, I had a friend who graduated from OAU and was earning 40k per month as at 2008 at a private hospital. I heard he now has a clinic of his own. I think you need to set up your own practice then money starts coming in. But make sure you are choosing a career because you genuinely love it not for the money.

I mean in My COLLEGE OF MEDICINE there are only about 20 BDs..students and 100 MBBs students..... becaz of dere less numbers dere tends to be less competition and dey get let off da hook by some grades dat if a MBBs studnt gets such grades hr or she will certainly get a ResIT..... itz not alwayz like that though....

but on d average dey ar d same thing.... offer d same courses.... write d same Examz.... Xcept for a few diffrences..

yea...i finally got admission to study dentistry at the univeristy of benin...Dentistry is the same as medicine...they are both on the same salary scale...they ar also areas of specialzation in dentistry such as Oral and Maxilofacial surgey(Head,neck,mouth and Face surgery), Oral Pathology/medicine,Periodontology etc besides if u wan to get a medicine degree afta dentistry is 18months...bt if a medical degree holder want to get a dental degree, its 3 yrs...
