Lagos Shuts 250 Unregistered Auto Spare Parts Shops! by Relax101(m): 6:21pm On Dec 23, 2011
The Lagos State Government has shut down 250 unregistered auto and spare parts dealers’ shops in some parts of the metropolis for non compliance with the provisions of the law.
Officials of the Motor Vehicle and Administration Agency, MVAA stormed Egbega, Alimosho, Alagbado, Agege, Apapa, Ojo, Ijora areas of Lagos, southwest Nigeria and shut down the unregistered shops.
An auto dealer needs to pay N100,000 to register while a spare parts dealer needs to pay N50,000 for registration.
The enforcement is a joint one carried out by the MVAA with the Association of Auto and Spare Parts Dealers to rid the state of unregistered auto and spare parts dealers in the nooks and crannies of the state.
The state government vowed that the enforcement would be continuous until operators of auto and spare part dealers comply with the provisions of the law.
A statement from the MVAA said the government had declared zero tolerance on the dealers who operate illegally in the state.
The exercise is also to rid the state of unregistered auto and spare parts dealers selling vehicles with questionable sources and fake spare parts to unsuspecting members of the public.
Those whose shops had been shut will have to pay the stipulated amount of money as registration fees before they can be reopened, P.M.NEWS gathered.
The state enjoined auto and spare parts dealers to obtain their dealers permit as defaulters would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
