Warriors to pivot to Pau Gasol if unable to sign Durant nice but would prefer BATUM.... We need someone to drive to the basket ooo cry

Update: he hasn't signed yet...

I saw the Gasol stuff but I don't even understand the plans for Bogut and Ezeli.. And I don't want Barnes taking Max. He'll be demanding close to $24M/Year.

All this bullshit about Curry. Guy played injured. You really think he was figured out?
Lebron is playing in the east, of course he's going to the finals every year. Nothing special in case you don't know. They could easily reserve energy for the finals unlike teams going against Spurs, Clippers, Okc, Portland, Dirk.....JESUS WEPT!

if you place dirk at top2 at his position, where would you place KARL MALONE?

Karl marlone (the Mailman) was really that good. Was just unfortunate to have existed in the Jordan-Era. If he had won rings, WD have been head to head with Tim Duncan, who is clearly the best power forward ever.

Well, my opinion though.

I have Dirk over Malone by virtue of his ring and Finals MVP. Dirk is so criminally underrated its unreal. We are talking about a guy who is #6 on the all time scorers list

Malone was in the Jordan era but so was Olajuwon and Olajuwon never had a PG as good as Stockton.

Dirk got to a Final with Devin Harris, Jason Terry, Josh Howard and Desagana goddamn Diop and it took mostly disgraceful officiating to rob him of a ring (One player went to the free throw line 16times a game. And his name wasn't Shaq)

2nd attempt. He had Marion, Terry and Jason Kidd, solid supporting cast the problem was the aforementioned 3 were a combined 105 years old facing a younger yet prime LeBron, Wade and Bosh (8 years in the league) played as the road team and still beat them in 6.

Bear in mind that to even get to these Finals Dirk had to dethrone two multiple defending champs coached by Phil Jackson and Greg Popovich

I rate him higher than Malone

Its Blasphemy to rate Malone over dirk. He had in my opinion the 2nd greatest player at his position and his coach was no punk, I mean jerry sloan was the coach of the utah jazz.

Lets say he could not win against Jordan, Jordan retired and the mailman could not win within those two years. So on what criteria are you putting malone over him?
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 12:42pm On Jul 01, 2016
Everyone keep giving this players excuse talking about the jordan era, You would think Jordan won 6 consecutive rings. He left the league for some time.

Hakeem took advantage of it, why couldn't malone take advantage, why couldn't barkley take advantage?

Dirk put that team on his back, beating kobe, pau, bynum, and phil(2 times back to back champion), San Antonio, and Okc.

Malone could not win with stockton, and they played together for how long? Blasphemy.

Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 1:05pm On Jul 01, 2016
whiteside to miami, i wonder how the next year draft is going to be like? i say dirk should think of the warriors offer(prolly wont) and dallas should just rebuild. This thing is inevitable. I know A40 is not into this rebuilding thing, but we are not good, we are not bad. Its actually terrible, wish we could just get picks from what we have left and wait for a strong draft.

Tired of wasting dirk time man, dude deserves one more ring and cuban can not offer that.

I'm amazed as to how the Mavs GM still has a job. He is yet to draft a consistent contributor in years and has been shooting bricks in free agency, if they can't find decent talent to help Dirk wind down his last 2 years or so I suggest he joins the Warriors. He is their most affordable and realistic option

Batum is not going anywhere, least the Warriors. He just resigned with the Hornets. As for KD, i share the sentiments of others, i don't think he would leave the Thunder and in the instance he does, i doubt the Warriors would be his likely destination. NBA players all have egos, believe it or not, especially the superstars, their ego is what drives them to pursue greatness. Who would be the leader of a Warrior's team with Curry, Green and KD? It would be worse than what he is dealing with Westbrook.

I am preparing myself for the weekend when we (Celtics) make a perfect pitch for him to join the Celtics (yes, i am part of the pitching team angry angry believe it or not angry angry)and ditch the western conference because the truth is, if there is any minute chance that KD returns to the conference finals or the championship series, his biggest window would be through the Eastern conference. The conference may get stronger this coming season, however, Lebron would keep his grips on the conference but if KD pitches tents to the East he stands a pure chance to challenge Lebron for the conference.

I think KD stays one more season with the Thunder and opts out next year to make even more money and re-evaluate his future and plans, especially if the Thunder don't make wise investments in the team especially a third consistent scorer and a deeper bench.

Dirk has made it pretty clear to everyone including Owner, Cuban, that he does not want to be a part of any rebuilding, he wants to play at the highest level and would leave the team if rebuilding becomes the primary direction of the Mavs.

Based off the draft, i doubt the Mavs are rebuilding and that means they would be courting free agents in hopes it convinces Dirk to stay in Dallas, Cuban believes Dallas is still a destination for star free agents even though i can not vouch for the accuracy of such thought considering the roaster.

This years draft class is the worst i have seen, i am speaking from watching these kids play college basket ball, these one and done crap is not helping the quality of players drafted into the league, the better players who stay longer in college are punished and not seen as potentials or have passed their youthful prime.

I seriously hope Adam Silver addresses this issue as it is bothersome, these guys are not grounded on the fundamentals of the game, coaches barely have 200 days/ 20 games to evaluate these kidz.

You also have a point. Though its debatable.

Malone in terms of physic, strength, power was only bested by shaq for several years. Malone was so stronnnng, God damn it.

In terms of muscle and all I mentioned above, he was to his position all through his era, what Lebron has been to his position for past years.

As tough as Dennis rodman and Charles Barkley were as power forwards, Malone made them look like kids in the paint, in terms of both defence and offence. Dennis Rodman dominated everyone else in the paint in rebounds and hustle-play all thru his years in Chicago, besides Malone in all their match ups.

Malone was also very defensive. 3times all defensive 1st team. I doubt dirk was ever considered for a defensive team. Malone looked so heavy, but he could leap for dunks and blocks so quickly and effortlessly. Only problem is that he never looked athletic due to his over-muscular frame.

Malone is 2nd all time nba scoring leader. Hope you know that. I love olajuwon, but he won those 2rings when Jordan decided to play baseball? Hence you can't give him credit of winning them them "in Jordan's era". He won them "in between Jordan's ERAS".

Malone dominated his era much more than dirk did. Do you know that for like 9 or 10 straight seasons, Malone was in all NBA 1st team? I believe that's a longer stretch than dirk had.

Malone had some wonderful seasons. There was one that stood out. That was in 1998 season. He led the jazz to sweep the Lakers. The Lakers had clearly the better team that season. The had 4 baaad aaas allstars in Shaq, Eddie Jones, nick van exel and a young Kobe(though a bench player still then).

The Lakers were hot and strong that year. Eddie Jones was really good and so was shaq. Eddie Jones was benching Kobe as at then.

The Lakers had a great bench in Eddie Campbell, derrick fisher and Kobe.

But for yet - to - explained reasons, the jazz swept Lakers.
This isn't as easy as lebron's cavs sweeping Atlanta. The Lakers were really good. That was Lakers best season since 1990.

Dirk had a good shooting technique, but so did Malone.

Well, its debatable no doubt. But I put Malone clearly ahead of Malone. How do you explain all NBA 1st team? And other two seasons around those years he wasn't there, he was in 2nd second team.

Malone was a hybrid of a Tim Duncan(fundamentals, technique) and SHAQ (body dominance). That's a deadlest combo iv ever seen in a forward.

The closest I have seen having this combo is Karl Anthony Towns. But I'm just so scared he may play soft, cause he's too nice, humble and respectful.

Malone was a beast.

Let Chandler Parsons take his china made glass knees elsewhere. If you were a GM would you pay that perma-crock max money?

I didn't call them scrubs but they aren't exactly HOF bound. Besides I recall a lot of Cavs fan swearing LeBron played with scrubs even when they won 66 games and had the best regular season two seasons straight.

Hi? This doesn't necessarily mean they would go for a center. Mosgov has been expendable for past 12months. Even if they do go for a center, I doubt the cavs would get a center to join the team at starting position. They are very much OK with Tristan, even though 6-9 playing center. And Lebron assisting him in the forward positions.

A specialist/spot-up shooter would be a good deal. The cavs dont really have that. J.r smith can't do that consistently well enough for the cavs.

Get me reddick or bradley beal or the likes should be a good deal, even if it cost us shupert or JR.

We can leave shump but JR, we have to hold him down cheesy

BROS, I don't rate individual careers with rings. Though it has its significance. But not always a factor. If Jordan was never in Bulls to lead pippen to win championships, I'm sure you would have clearly said Pau Gasol was a better forward than pippen when he retires, cos he won 2 rings in Lakers. Or to put it better, you may have have placed Gasol as a better supporting-cast to Kobe than pippen to Jordan if the bulls with Jordan didn't win titles.

Meanwhile pippen was the very 1st preview to the players like Grant Hill, Lebron and kawhi.

You can't really compare careers with rings. There are just tooo many other parameters besides rings and also include the factor of being a TWO-WAY PLAYER and influence both on the inside and outside the paint as forwards for 2's especially.

Please consult the great A40 for the rest of my response as regards comparisons between DIRK and MALONE.

if Durant were to sign anywhere, it would be 80% Warriors. The OKC Durant talk yesterday lasted 5hrs, Warriors Durant 2hr.. We all know the 5hrs talk was serious based on the fact they were so close to taking Warriors this season which I don't think is any threat. I predict Durant signs a 2year deal with player option. Makes more money and knows what to do depending on what Westbrook decides to do.

I'm still not happy we didn't chase Batum.

This new salary cap is pushing GMs to throw away money. I thought they would use the opportunity to add role players and deepen their teams. But here they are booming the top free agents.

I mean Batum is good and I love the player. But Mehnnn 24M $ per year for 4 years?
