This is the only strategy that will bring govt to its knees

OUr demand should not just be for the price of petrol to go back to N65. Already, the legislators are already saying give them their N65 so we would not probe the real cause of our poverty; how they are bleeding the country dry.

There is no need accepting N65 now without a permanent solution to our importing petrol, diesel etc. We need a permanent solution so our economy can grow.

This protest not stop until

1. The government signs an MOU with labor that contains permanent solution to importing petrol. Building more refineries and repairing existing ones will create the kind of jobs we want for our children.

All new refineries should be lead by private investors.

2.  The gross waste of our resources by government must stop. This is the fundamental cause of our problems.
All useless allowances (hardship, P.A, 5 to 10 cars/person, luxury house, traveling first class, N1billion for food and entertainment etc) should be discontinued permanently.

The fleet of presidential jet should be sold. If we are too poor to afford subsidy, we cannot afford a fleet of jets.

3. EFCC must investigate and find the people who are collecting subsidy illegally and those who did not do the turn around maintenance of the refineries we paid for. These people must refund every kobo +/- go to jail.

This is or opportunity to make meaningful changes in how we are governed. Make labor no fall our hand O!

Lets BAN exportation n importatn of crude oil n other oil products. Rather make our refineries work at full capacity for our consumption only. This wld help curb the corruption in the oil sector.

Finally our aim should be to FEED / provide for ourselves by using our resources effectively b4 producing for other ctries.

THE TRUE STORY THE GOVT WON’T TELL YOU

Nigeria . . . 2011. The Govt. suddenly realised that it had a debt burden that was potentially going to throw it into an economic crisis. On ‘critical analysis’ of the country’s expenditure, they realised they were spending so much on fuel subsidy for the masses.
WHY was it so much? CORRUPTION associated with the importation of the fuel, inefficiency and ineptitude of the Govt. to tackle it.
HOW can it be solved? OPTION ONE: Wage a major anti-corruption war against the CABAL using underhand practices to steal from the country’s commonwealth [corruption can NEVER be ELIMINATED. EVER! However, with sincerity of purpose of Govt., due diligence, hard work and efficiency, it can be reduced drastically]. This option was going to be too much hard work, they would step on toes (toes of the Govt, their friends and well-wishers included) and it was bound to be very messy. It was the HARD OPTION.
OPTION TWO: Eliminate fuel subsidy in its entirety and let the masses bear the cost. All in favour say Aye! . . .Aye!!! The Ayes had it. It
was unanimous! It was the EASY OPTION.

However, there was a catch! The Govt. could not sell that STORY to the people. Nigerians would not buy a story that they were being
impoverished because of a potential debt crisis. That they were being IMPOVERISHED because the Govt. could not fight corruption or ATTEMPT
to fight it. That they were being IMPOVERISHED because the Govt. could not cut down drastically on the COST OF GOVERNANCE. Borrowing the words of a man now in Govt., THE ECONOMISTS WOULD HAVE BEEN STONED.
So they had to cook up a story. A good one.

“Let’s tell them they are being cheated by a RICH CABAL,” they said. “That’s a story the poor would definitely buy. The Rich is stealing
your money. Let’s not tell them that we haven’t attempted to prosecute even ONE MEMBER OF THE RICH CABAL. Let’s not tell them that we are
INTERTWINED with this CABAL. Let’s tell them that we are going to take this money and re-invest it for infrastructural development. Let’s not
tell them that the money DOESN’T EXIST since we have only been borrowing this money and we want to stop borrowing it. Let’s tell them
that when the money is with THE GOVT and split to SEVERAL SECTORS and the THREE TIERS OF GOVT, we would manage it better and tackle the
corruption at ALL THESE LEVELS even if we couldn’t tackle the corruption in ONE SECTOR!!! Yes, let’s tell them.

"Let’s also tell them that when we remove this subsidy, SMUGGLING will stop and all the oil imported to Nigeria will stay in Nigeria. Let’s
not tell them that even after subsidy removal, smuggling will continue as long as there is a price differential. Let’s not tell them that we
are actually too LAZY, INEFFICIENT and CORRUPT to tackle smuggling at the source.
Let’s tell them that the pain is only temporary. Very temporary. That this is for the poor. Let’s not tell them that the POOR which we claim
to fight for are the people who will actually feel the pain. . .REAL LOSERS!!

Let’s hope the NIGERIAN FOOLS will believe this. Let’s tell them this is for the poor. Let’s tell them. All in favour say Aye! . . Aye!!! The Ayes had it! It was unanimous. It was a good STORY!

DISCLAIMER: I do not claim that every bit of this story is true, but it is my guess as to what the REAL STORY is, based on facts revealed
by the actors themselves, hidden truths in their statements, and COMMON SENSE. The ‘Nigerian fools’ are not gullible. . .They were not
counting on that. #OCCUPY.NIGERIA

Let  the north subsidize their  cows(nama} and onions because
a 'baby carried on the back doesnt  know the road is far'.(apologies to my elders]
Nigeria is still  ''one'' today because oil is not from that region.
Anybody can call me a tribalist but i know am not.

It would be very good if some of our bottling companies can support the protesters with water to quench thier thirst or pure water companies too,

@iykak47, Though you sounded tribalistic but since you said you're not, no problem. But your logic is wrong because South doesn't subsidize PMS. So, if agricultural products must be subsidized, it still going to be subsidized by the government, be it federal, state or local.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS NOW? -By Ben Bruce

Let us remind ourselves the reason for this showdown. It is not about subsidy, I keep repeating this fact. It is about the following indices that make our government big, wasteful and ineffective:

Big and overblown governments at all levels

70 Ministers

Over twenty Special advisers (on what?)

Every minister is entitled to 4 Special Assistants.

Senate President earns 88 Million Naira monthly.

His Deputy Earns 55 Million Naira monthly.

Senators take home 14 Million Naira monthly.

It takes 1.4 Billion naira to maintain the NASS annually (Remember what Sanusi said about 25% of our GDP is used to feed people who only sit Tuesday – Thursday).

Our Governors exhibit such level of opulence shunned by the richest nations in the world

Our 2012 budget has a deficit component to it. We are supposed to borrow about 1.6 TRILLION NAIRA.

NASS will be paid from that! Aso Rock will use 1 Billion of it to eat! Aso Rock will use another 1 Billion to fuel generators.

The Vice President will use 58 Million Naira to buy newspapers.

The office of Patience Jonathan will use 500 Million to speak bad English to you.

We will spend close to 500 Billion on International Travels.

In 2012, some state governors will collect 100 Million as security votes MONTHLY.

They will continue to enjoy immunity clause!

Your hospitals will have no drugs.

Your schools will still have no quality to train a world class scholar

Your roads will still be death traps.

You will still be a local government unto yourself, providing water, security, power and social security!

You will still pay more for petroleum products.

You will pay toll in 2012 on federal interstate roads.

If you will like this to continue in 2012, then stay at home and enjoy power as provided by PHCN!

at this juncture, i must say that a larger percentage of nigerians are selfish and wicked, now that fuel pump price hits everyone, there is mass protest. have u ever figured out where this oil comes from? for decades the owners of these oil have suffered neglect, abuja was constructed with oil money and yet the niger delta has been left to degradation, explosion, polution, hardship, unemployment and many. do u know the rivers our ancestors fished to sustain their families are almost entirely poluted? do u know there are many rural settings in the delta without even a school block?
these ppl have suffered and cried for help for too many times, yet, nigerians are adamant to their plea, and yet, they thrive on their oil, if nigerians can go 4days without work because of increment in fuel pump price, then it's time to reconsider the situation in the n/delta (the owners of the oil),

Yesterday 11th January, we (NBA Ikeja branch members) proceeded to Ogba where there was an initial hesitation of mourners to hold a rally for Ademola Aderinto the slain youth, as it was rumoured that they would be cracked down upon by the police; however we encouraged the rally to hold. There, Adebamigbe Omole, our branch chairman assured them that we would ensure that Ademola’s case was not swept under the carpet and that his killer would be prosecuted. We went on to Ojota to join protesters there. By about 2 p.m, our chairman, Omole addressed the crowd – no less than 2million in number, encouraging them to continue with the protest: 65 naira per litre or nothing; the government was elected by the people and if the majority of the people say they do not want a particular policy, the government must listen. From Ojota we went to SCID Panti. There we met with the head, Deputy Commissioner of Police Yuguda Abdullahi who said trigger happy DPO who shot Ademola was in his custody and assured us that he would indeed be prosecuted. WE CONTINUE WITH PROTEST TODAY, 12TH JANUARY 2012. TAKE OFF IS FROM THE IKEJA HIGH COURT, LATEST 8.30 A.M.

To strengthen this strike action, I am glad that NUPENG are about to join.
However, NLC will get more results if Boko Haram and Kidnappers join in the "war against subsidy"

How?

1.Let Boko haram do what it knows best(Fireworks& smoke) in the Abuja and everywhere these FG officials and President are.

2. Let Kidnappers kidnap Jonathans Mum(if she is alive), and other family members of the foolish PDP senators.
Then give the condition for their release as reversal or suspension of the removal of oil susbidy
You will all be surprised that within 24hrs Jonathan will yield to our request.

Please , pass this message round to your neighbour if they are members of Boko-Haram or Kidnapping community

Anybody who has seen my posts would notice that I never criticise president GEJ personally , I reserve most of my criticism for his PDP party, this is because I know he is just a figure head who follows directions from Obasanjo and / or Babangida who are the real rulers of Nigeria.

The demands should include the immediate arrest and detention of Obasanjo and Babangida, any politician with unexplained wealth.

Resignation of GEJ, his cabinet.

The installation of a proven leader such as Gen Buhari as an interim head of state, to run a cross-party government of national unity.

Immediate disengagement from all IMF policies.

Immediate 99% pay cut for all politicians (does in politics for the money may choose to resign).

WE NEED SOMEONE OR ANY ARTIST TO COMPOSE A REVOLUTION SONG AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

WE NEED SOMEONE TO SPONSOR LEAFLETS IN ALL LANGUAGES HIGHLIGHTING PRAYER POINTS AND THE EVIL PEOPLE BEHIND NIGERIA'S PROBLEM

banners with the inscription" Since BRITAIN JOINED THE LION CORRUPT NORTH AND THE LAMB SOUTH TOGETHER IN 1914, THERE HAS NOT BEEN PROGRESS IN NIGERIA AND BY EXTENSION WESTAFRICA" to show the bbc will be nice as well

we need our celebrity pastors to speak up, this is not about us,

100yrs tim, most people here may be dead so its about our children's children

someone should contact amnesty international and civil rights groups about the people killed

naija people living in europe should tell fellow europeans that nigerians are too third world and poor to pay for expensive fuel to pay for their debts cos i heard IMF needs the subsidy money to invest.
Re: Report Your Efforts And And Ideas In Supporting The Protests And Strikes by mrsquib(m): 10:03am On Jan 13, 2012
Thursday morning (12th January 2012), saw an increase in the number of lawyers that turned up at the Ikeja High Court for the Fuel Price Hike Protest.
We joined the NLC/TUC train on a condolence visit to the family of the murdered Ademola Aderinto at Ogba.
Two boys masquerading as part of the train of protesters were arrested by the crowd while robbing passersby. The train moved to Agbotikuyo junction at Agege and held a rally there. The rally was addressed by Dr. Dipo Fashina, a.k.a “Jingo.” His message was clear: Resistance to the fuel price hike must continue. “Enough is enough!,” reiterated Dr. Fashina.
We then made our way to the the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja to stage a protest; saw many intending passengers who appeared stranded.
All through the city, there was total compliance with the strike order of the NLC/TUC. There were masses of protesters gathered in many areas of Lagos - from Lagos Island to LASU. However we heard reports of some small criminal gangs in a few neighbourhoods setting up roadblocks for extortion or even outright robbery of passersby.
The NLC/TUC train decided to move on to Ikorodu but we went to the Gani Fawehinmi ‘Freedom Park’ at Ojota. The crowd of protesters there was even more than the previous day; at least 3.5 million! The police there were so overwhelmed by the sheer number of people that they just sat in their vans while some people made fun of their barking dogs. Never before has such event recorded a crowd of such gargantuan proportions! Crowd control at this Ojota rallying point has been almost entirely in the hands of the Save Nigeria Group and by self policing, while the NLC/TUC Group has been quite strategic, carrying out sensitization campaigns to various parts of the metropolis.
We eventually made our way back to our ‘war camp,’ the NBA Ikeja Secretariat. WE TAKE OFF AGAIN TODAY 13TH JANUARY, 2012, FROM THE IKEJA BAR CENTRE TO CONTINUE THE PROTEST.
Re: Report Your Efforts And And Ideas In Supporting The Protests And Strikes by mrsquib(m): 4:13pm On Jan 14, 2012
Morning of 13th January 2012, we went to Labour House – the Secretariat of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) at Yaba. From there, a Fuel Price Hike Protest Procession to Mushin on foot, was organized. Our numbers swelled to about 3000 as we proceeded. We stopped at various points along the way to address the people and the message was very well received. At Mushin, Labour leader and former ASUU President, Dr. Dipo Fashina once again addressed the crowd. Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja branch chairman, Adebamigbe Omole also spoke.
Thereafter, we joined a motorcade to Oshodi. There was nobody to address as the usually ever busy Oshodi was deserted (everyone was probably in Ojota). We disbanded to allow the muslims in the motorcade go for Jumat service.
We got to Ojota around 2p.m by which time the Save Nigeria Group had announced the suspension of the Protest until Monday but we still met about 3 million protesters who refused to go home - it had a carnival like atmosphere. Stayed about 40 minutes and returned to our Ikeja High Court base. SUBJECT TO OUTCOME OF TALKS GOING ON WITH THE GOVT., FUEL PRICE HIKE PROTEST RESUMES ON MONDAY 16TH JANUARY, 2012.
Re: Report Your Efforts And And Ideas In Supporting The Protests And Strikes by mrsquib(m): 8:06am On Jan 17, 2012
Monday, 16th January, 2012 at about 11.30 a.m, NBA Ikeja branch members got to the Gani Fawehinmi Park at Ojota. There we discovered that a ring of police, navy and army officers had cordoned off the Park. We demanded access into the Park as it was our constitutional right to be able to assemble there and we were directed down the lines to their leaders until we got to one Lt. Col. A.A. Alabi. We read him Section 40 & 41 of the Constitution. We told him that their Commander-in-Chief had sworn an oath to obey the Constitution. He was polite but unyielding – they had been instructed not to allow people into the Park. We then went to the Labour House at Yaba. We were still there when we heard the announcement that the leadership of the NLC/TUC had called off the strike!
OUR POSITION: The NBA Ikeja intends to sue the Federal Government for preventing us from exercising our fundamental rights as well as seek the possibility of extending opposition to the N97 fuel price which is unacceptable.
