All Eastern Nigerians, In Honor Of Ojukwu Stay Off Nairaland On February 3rd by Onlytruth(m): 7:40am On Jan 13, 2012
On February 3rd, 2012, an icon and war time leader of  Eastern Nigeria, Dim Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, will be interred in his home town of Nnewi in Anambra State. On that day, Ndigbo worldwide have been charged (by MASSOB) to observe a stay at home wherever they reside worldwide.

Nairalanders of Eastern Nigeria extraction should, as a mark of respect, stay away from Nairaland on that day. This is not compulsive by any means. It is just a mark of respect and honor to a man who deserves our respect and honor. For Ndigbo, this "stay at home" should enable us to thoroughly reflect on our situation in Nigeria, and avail us the opportunity to REALLY THINK about the way out of our entrapment in the Nigerian nation.
I used the term entrapment, because since the war ended on a no victor no vanquished basis, there has been very little evidence to show that we have been fully accepted as Nigerians.

Our political and economic marginalization have approached egregious proportions, and the cries of our people constantly murdered in the Nigerian experiment renders the heavens! Our fathers fought to extract some dignity for us, and we revel in that dignity today, in the face of constant taunts and mockery by heartless folks. I don't really pay much attention to our mockers and taunters, because, frankly they owe us nothing. The debt is owed to HUMANITY and it will be paid. What we need to do is stay at home and cry to our God, the Great Yahweh, to strengthen our hands, to empower us to change our situation. There is a limit to talk. Silence is powerful too. February 3rd is a day of silence folks! cool
Let's do it! cool cool

Here I stand.

Onlytruth, Ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland, Eze Ndigbo Nairaland.  cool cool cool

On that day, or from now to that day, all Eastern Nigerians and Ndigbo should meditate on this Psalm, cool

Psalm 25

1 Unto thee, O LORD, do we lift up our soul.
2 O our God, we trust in thee:

let us not be ashamed,
let not our enemies triumph over us.
3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed:

let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
4 Show us thy ways, O LORD;

teach us thy paths.
5 Lead us in thy truth, and teach us:

for thou art the God of our salvation;
on thee do we wait all the day.
6 Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy loving-kindnesses;

for they have been ever of old.
7 Remember not the sins of our youth, nor our transgressions:

according to thy mercy remember thou us
for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.
8 Good and upright is the LORD:

therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment:

and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth

unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 For thy name's sake, O LORD,

pardon our iniquity; for it is great.
12 What man is he that feareth the LORD?

Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at ease;

and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him;

and he will show them his covenant.
15 Our eyes are ever toward the LORD;

for he shall pluck our feet out of the net.
16 Turn thee unto us, and have mercy upon us;

for we are desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of our heart are enlarged:

O bring thou us out of our distresses.
18 Look upon our affliction and our pain;

and forgive all our sins.
19 Consider our enemies; for they are many;

and they hate us with cruel hatred.
20 O keep our soul, and deliver us:

let us not be ashamed; for we put our trust in thee.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve us;

for we wait on thee.
22 Redeem us, O God,

out of all our troubles.

Good move, but i suggest Why dont we open only one single thread on that day and call it a condolence registar/order of funeral service? Let all easterners, friends and supporters of biafra visit the thread to sympathise with us, drop words of wisdom, igbo proverbs i.e ilulu.

We can also include ojukwu's memorable quotes from yesteryears.

And if theres a live tv coverage of his burial, it should be relayed here on nl minute by minute info, with pictures, links etc.

The original decision not to log on is in order, and I think we should all heed it, at least those of us who frequent the politic section.
However, the idea of condolence register is also good, and I suggest it should be created a day before (Feb 2nd)so that others groups or people can start the condolence while we register ours from the 4th. We are the ones mourning not the ones doing the condoling.

Abeg if I stay home I cannot not come to NL.
There are many ways to pay respect. Nothing should be imposed.
And please after calling jewish god, year on year for guidance without result, maybe we should call on own igbo gods. At least they did guide and answered our forefathers for thousands of years before we abandoned them for a foreign god. Since then nothing has been working for us.

It wouldn't work. With the likes of some bigots who go on attack whenever ojukwu name is mentioned, the thread will result into a tribal bashing on both side. The purpose of the thread will head another direction.

Maybe a heavily moderated thread will suffice. If we can get one moderator to delete any post that has nothing to do with paying tributes, then it may work.

I will respect the decision of my people and why we at it let us use this period to reflect on the man, Ojukwu, and remember that he did great things for our people at a young age. Most of us today are within this age bracket which means we must be ready to serve and, if need be, lay down our lives for the emancipation of our people. There is a little Ojukwu in every Igbo/eastern man and woman. For me and my family I would say this - I shall not rest neither shall I weary nor slumber until my people are free from Nigeria. Nigeria woke up the giant in all us and its our duty to unleash this giant at the fullness of time. I say this to my people - lets keep towing the part of virtue, love for our Lord and people, and science and maths, because this cookie is going to crumble any time. Let's ignore but not overlook our detractors and evil wishers, lets take note of them and respond with strategic military silence. Let us bear the pain and humiliation Nigeria and her "owners" have shown us with unbreakable fortitude and be ready to unleash our venom when the time is right. We are united in aspiration and freedom. We are united and will remain united, despite Nigerian torpedoes we have carved a formidable nation with one dream, justice, love, equality, and freedom for all.

I will not say goodbye to Ikemba, not yet. Ndigbo si "nwata welu ike bulie nna ya elu, nyoyo ogodo ayochie ya anya" Nigeria tried to toss us up in a hurry and our "ogodo" has blocked their sight, need I say their sight will remain blocked until the last battle?

My brother, ndigbo si na ihe/ife nile/nine ga/ya ala/ana, mana ka o si so onye agaghi/aya ala/ana! (all things are ephemeral, except personal choice!). You basically choose your own god. That is a fact. I chose the God of the majority of Igbos and Eastern Nigerians today.

It is a fact that the predominant religion in Igboland and Eastern Nigeria is Christianity. If you have ever FULLY read the Bible (especially the old testament), you would see that it was almost written by an Igbo man! cool

So, choose ye this day whom thou shall serve. As for me and my house, we shall serve YAHWEH. cool
Blessed are those who do not take offense at me. cool cool cool

And BTW, the "stay off Nairaland" is purely VOLUNTARY.
Thank you. wink

Ojuku the cowardly runaway warlord is probably in hades sucking the balls of Lucifer

What a sad existence. Bullied in his youth by Adekunle

Chased out of his fathers house by Black Scorpion

Came back later and became a pedophile

in his old age his wife became national bicycle

Bullied by his brother who sent him in his vegetative state to London and nyanshed his wife steady

@My brothers Omenala and PointB,
The condolence thread is a very good idea, except that it should come AFTER Ojukwu's burial, precisely because of the concerns raised by One_Naira below:

One_Naira:

It wouldn't work. With the likes of some bigots who go on attack whenever ojukwu name is mentioned, the thread will result into a tribal bashing on both side. The purpose of the thread will head another direction.

Thank you my brother.

So, basically we should open that condolence thread on the 4th as suggested by PointB. At least from that date, life basically returns to normal here on Nairaland.
