There is no difference between an Igbo man in Onitsha and an Igbo man in Lagos.

Igbos in Onitsha would protest if they felt they had the freedom to, or if they had the civil society structures to organise those protests.

If the Igbo felt no need to protest, the Igbo Governors would not display overeager totalitarianism in imposing curfews. We have feudal overlords in the South East and less freedom of expression.

The reason protest runs wild in the West and North is that (a.) ACN have no interest in stopping protests and (b.) the anger in the North (over a Christian stealing their slot) cannot be contained.

South Easterners are not used to gathering to protest. Even in the days of MASSOB, any gathering of more than ten MASSOB members would be swiftly dealt with.

Also we have a lot of killers, Osiskankwus and ex-militants running around in the South East. Guys who would be let loose on the population by the feudal overlords. . . . and the population know it.

Put an Igbo man in Lagos and he will happily join the protest. Transfer the same Igbo man to Owerri or PortHarcourt and he will not even look outside his window. We got Government-hired killers out here man!

I am yet to see any serious protest organised against boko haram. Or is Boko Haram a SE problem alone? There is nutin like the easterners been weary. The easterners has really tried in making Nigeria better but at the end the blame is heaped on them. For instance let me refer to the aburi accord agreement, it was the igbos that pursed it and achieved it but the northners coming back to Nigeria after the agreement nullied it and continue their oppression against the easterners which eventually led to the civil war which was fought against the easterners by majority of tribes. Now after that bitter experience of betrayal to the eastners you think and expect them to come and join in this struggle again. PROUDLY NO cause on the long run we will be left alone and blames will be heaped on us again. We started the struggle for a better Nigeria so let other zones like south south, south west let them finish the fight we started. please you guys should try to differentiate strike and street protest, they are on strike which is a form of protest.that they are not on the street doesn't meant there are not protesting.BTW an average SE man is a proud man who will not stoop so low to come beg for hangout or cry.he has more pressing issues to deal with and not crying on the street.after all igbos are Lagos,Kano,Abuja and all the major cities and they are protesting there too also Nollywood too is protesting.we have been buying fuel as much as 100buck before the so called subsidy removal,what difference will it make selling fuel at 150buck

I think its got to do with three things;
(1)The south easterners,inlike most people from the othern regions,are less of civil servants and salary earners,they're msotly self-employed,so unlike civil servants and salary earners that will still get paid even if they strike for 3 months,majority of the SEners must work for them to earn any pay.
(2)People in most parts of the SE have NEVER bought fuel @ N65/litre,they're used to the buying it much higher so they dont understand why the rest of the country is crying blue murder
(3)They are not so impressed that labour,CSO and the rest of Nigeria kept mum when most Southerners Easterners were being killed by BH in the north

1. Our enocomy in the South East is more of entreprenuership than civil service & oil companies. Most of our income is not slary based. We work hard, and I mean that we work hard. If fuel increases, our goods & services will also increase. Market forces will simply help us to balance up.

Market forces will not help you balance up anything. You will still make the same margin per sale, but volume of sales will be halved as purchasing power has been halved.

The only way market forces balance up is if earnings per capita keep pace with inflation. . .

Remember the NLC president is a northerner and one day it would be zoned to the SE, would he like it when SE is striking and the whole country boycott it ? Food for thought.
