Everybody was shouting Revolution! Revolution!! Revolution!!! Now we had the opportunity to reform the entire system yet again our coward nature was used against us, sorry go back to work, ball-less Nigerians!
Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by houvest: 2:23pm On Jan 16, 2012
This is obvious to students of Nigerian history. The whole nine yards replayed as some of us predicted. Govt removes subsidy. Labour barks Govt reduces the price of fuel. Labour backs down. Life goes on untill next season of the series. When folks were predicting doomsday and regime change bec ause of this. We laughed. Probably they are too young to know what happens here or have not been paying attention.

So the naija series is ova, Tank God it ended peacefully. At list it was just 7and half seasons - Goodluck Jack Bauer Jonathan, you try, the most insulted president on the social network. At least we now know the subsidy is gone, lets make sure the govt is on its toes to at least to implement all the sweet things in the speech today. This strike and protest has sent us 50 years ahead, am certain we will not be talking of govt expenditure and true federalism if pple did not protest to this extent. No government will take us for granted again, our eye done open. God bless Nigerians.

I occupy my work tomorrow by the grace of God, any of my staff not at work, will neva occupy their space in my office again.

Phew! this was a scary movie.

Hahahahahaha! To some of my dear gullible fellow nigerians, i hail una! Una no dey fail o. As usual and as predicted, after so much noise d strike has been called off and d f.g dint still revert back to #65/ltr rather the fg pegged it at #97 and nlc compeled to accept it or go 2 h-ell. This has always been the trend and this one wasnt an exception. d movie ended as anticipated just d way it is done in nollywood movies. The fake strike/street canival tagged protest is over, lifes wasted as usuall and d gullible masses returns bck to work waiting 4d next action film co-produced and directed by fg and nlc were they will be used again as what we call WAKA PASS ROLE. When next nlc calls out for strike, u shld all ask them TO WHAT END? Im yet to see any strike by nlc that took us back to the status qou rather gvmt always comes out tops just like this one. I hail una again, una no dey fail at all. In 9ja, gvmt laffs last. Ur libration is nvr gona come from labour/cso's led arranged protests rather the one led by d masses and by themselves. The ealier we know this the nearer we get to the promise land or else we shall continue to be pawns in the hands of politicians, labour and civil society groups. Guys go bck and occupy your works cos na una be d real maga, used again by labour ,politicians and some attention seekers yet we fail to learn from all this. Una kpele o.

Does it mean that the lives of those innocent Nigerians that died during the struggle amount to nothing? This is really sad!! It is now more obvious that human governments are a failure and can never bring a solution to our problems

Nigerian labor union leaders call for nationwide strikes because that is the primary means by which they can gain the leverage needed to demand and receive fat cash bribes from the federal government.

With those bribes now passed under the table during  "negotiations" with the federal government, and the labor union leaders now focused on the patriotic task of stashing that cash overseas and out of sight, the strikes have served their intended purpose, and are thus summarily discontinued until such time as more personal spending cash is required by the labor union leaders, or their successors.

This standardized cash generation MODALITY now calls for the labor union leaders to bestow the status of "National Hero" on all protesters shot dead by policemen, with promises that their families qualify for compensation, of which not one solitary dime will ever be paid.

To wind up the entire story, a good time has been had by all, and now Nigerians may count their losses and return to work until such time as their services as "protesters" are again required by labor union leaders.   Thank you Jeeeesus !

Truth be told. This is the reason we have never move forward, same reason we will NEVER move forward. Until we start taking our destiny into our own hands, nothing I mean absolutely nothing will change.

NLC PRESS STATEMENT :

STORY , STORY , STORY !!!
Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by stkris(m): 2:36pm On Jan 16, 2012
The NLC is one thing, the Nigerian people another. The fact that NLC gives in should not automatically end it all. Nigerians still have their say, and will express it NOW OR NEVER!!

Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by samueloo(m): 2:42pm On Jan 16, 2012
after all the protest, just 97 naira?? infact its better of at 141 cos things that had gone up will never go donw in prizes again, this is from fry pan to fire for Nigerians oo. my candid question to all of us is this : who shall lead us to our promise land since NLC has failed us ?
Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by Reference(m): 2:42pm On Jan 16, 2012
Said no one will come out of this looking good. We Nigerians are masters of brinkmanship. Fuel is still subsidised - bad for business. It hasn't returned to N 65 - bad for workers, no cabalist has been arrested, no new or detailed corruption evidence released, not one single government official has resigned. The smuggler has seen potential earnings fall from 76 to 32 naira onshore. Marketers who gained on the price increase will loose on this cut. Even Jonathan has lost 25% of his basic pay. Poor man. With all the insults. Government had lost trust, now labour as well.

Simple issues will forever become complex in Nigeria. Those who wanted it to be an economic battle lost to those who diluted it with politics, later ethnicity, thank God probably it didn't last to become a religious one. Who can come out to say he gained anything tangible from this showdown and will boldly say he is truly moving positively forward.

Nigeria is truly an enigma. Postmortem begins.
Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by Nobody: 2:43pm On Jan 16, 2012
we can still ocuppy Nigeria without the Labour, we can make the change now or maybe Never
Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by Nobody: 2:43pm On Jan 16, 2012
No discerning, right-thinking person can be convinced that those fufu-faced gluttons in the labour movement have not been heavily compromised, nay BRIBED, to accept this obnoxious new fuel price. The question is: how much were they paid?
Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by RICHIEBOI1(m): 2:44pm On Jan 16, 2012
Bunch of sellout. what was the need going on the strike in the first place? the prizes of things still wont go down and what of the people that died during the struggle will they be compensated? this whole strike thing stinks to high heaven. angry

NLC may not be effective in negotiating on behalf of the Nigerian people but it is the only effective forum that can mobilise Nigerians to conduct a protest.
In this wise, the NLC played a good role.
The original mandate from Nigerians to the NLC was an unconditional reversal to N65.00
The reduction in petrol price from N141 to N97 is no cheering news. The fact remains that the FGN has successfully removed fuel subsidy and that prices in the economy will move up as a result. The NLC has not won anything in this battle, rather the FGN has won and has beaten the NLC hands down.
It remains to be seen how the FGN will bring down the cost of governance and tackle the massive corruption in the oil industry and elsewhere which the NLC is claiming as their winning points in the struggle.

Hmm, what was the use of all these protest?

For N97? I laugh in Swahili,
