Barely 48 hours after the nationwide anti-subsidy removal protest ended, President Goodluck Jonathan may need an urgent and concrete action to douse the tension brewing in the South East geo-political zone.
The people in the area have resolved to give back fire for fire in the event of any further killing of their kinsmen in the North.

Yesterday, an umbrella of the youth organizations in the zone, Alliance of Igbo Youths (AIY) rose from its general assembly in Awka with a decision to take the destinies of Ndigbo in their hands, warning that the zone would not tolerate any further killing of any Igboman or woman by the Boko Haram or any group in Nigeria.

AIY stand coincided with the stand of the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety) which in a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, copy of which was made available to Daily Sun yesterday, noted that 510 Igbo Christians had been killed by Boko Haram in the last 12 months, describing it as, “a systematic ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.”

Briefing newsmen after their general assembly, Mr. Emeka Moneme and Johnbosco Muozoba, secretary general and president respectively of AIY, said President Jonathan’s government was toying with the lives of Ndigbo as it had shown insincerity in its dealings with the people of the South-east.

They said: “You are aware of our meeting last Thursday in Abuja with the Minister of Defence and subsequently with the National Security Committee at the NSA’s office, over the brutal killing of Ndigbo in northern Nigeria.
“Today we have briefed the general assembly of the Alliance of Igbo Youths on the outcome of that visit and the general consensus is that this government is toying with the lives of Ndigbo. It has not shown sincerity in dealing with the Igbo question.”

Meanwhile, in the letter of Intersociety to the president signed by its chairman, Board of Trustees, Emeka Umeagbalasi, the body chronicled the killings of Ndigbo in the North from January to December 2011 and demanded that the president takes a concrete step to end further killings of Igbo Christians anywhere in Nigeria.

President Jonathan’s government was toying with the lives of Ndigbo as it had shown insincerity in its dealings with the people of the South-east.

Following the subsidy protest all over the nation, and from which the "tamed" humans in the East abstained , preferring instead to fraternize as oil owners in a new coalition dubbed SS/SE, a new political power has emerged out of the Eastern region and it is not the customary majority but a new mainstream front, an offshoot of the bomb and destroy squad called MEND.  Ndigbos may have lost their majority voice and power to this new kid on the Eastern block.  A government that dispatches boots and guns to the urban streets of civil society could hardly be called "sincere".

All you Igbo folks should all bury your heads in shame because your actions during the recent subsidy crisis aptly proved why you all will continue to be 2nd class citizens in this country.
While others were busy crying over the injustice in the land (killings of Igbos and southerners in the north inclusive) using the platform provided by Govt's removal of fuel subsidy, you all were busy doing "business".
Now, continue doing you s.tup.id business and shut the fu.c.k up plss!

you must be dreaming, i did not see where it says "we need cowards to come join us protest or sympathies with us or come help us fight". we don't need your sympathy or support.we have done it alone before and we will continue to do it alone.if we need any support, you and your kinsmen are the last people to seek support from.

By the way,if free fuel is you and your peoples problem, don't worry all that will end very soon.maybe it will be the blood of your family members and your kinsmen that will be subsidy if you guys don't speak up, like as if it is only the igbos that is being killed in the north.

well it is understandable that you guys are cowards and cant stand up to your northern masters that is why you have decided to remain silent to the detriment of your peoples lives.Maybe fuel subsidy is more important then yorubaman's live.(Oh!!,i just remembered Abiola.maybe your leaders had collected money again to keep quiet). sophisticated fools!!!

I'm from the Niger Delta for your information. But I'm not the Asari or Briggs kind of Niger Deltan, I view things from an informed and objective perspective.
The major reason why a lot of people kicked against the fuel subsidy removal was the non-chalant attitude displayed by Government to the Boko Haram killings in the north. People felt that should be Govt's number 1 priority and not fuel subsidy removal. And yet, you say people were not concerned about the killings of Igbo and southerners in the north.

If you claim is both for killing of igbos in de north why didn't you guys protest against de killings that has been for so long, why organise protest immediately fuel subsidy was removed? After all the igbos started the struggle in 66 but is were betrayed by people they thought were with them now you want to to join again so that you guys will betray them again right?. Leave de igbos alone

Mr yoruba foolish man.enough of all these igbo subsidy obsession.the igbos protested the subsidy removal, there was strike, banks and corporate institutions where close.that they did not cry on the streets like hungry people doesn't mean they did not protest.at least i know there was street protest in owerri. also know that the economy in the east is more of self employed and entrepreneurship then waiting for employment and most of you yoruba cant defend what you have studied in school.(unproductive and unemployable educated ageros)which means most of the eastern traders and businessmen are not in anyway under you corrupt and useless NLC.

BTW,why will you face the igbos why not face other tribes that did not protest too,the ibibio, orons, idomas, igalas, tivs, calabar .are the igbos that important now in Nigeria?would the voice of the igbos have made Jonathan revert back to 65N?hahahahahaha!!!!!!!i laugh in latin

Also don't forget that your thief governors supported the subsidy removal.infact they are the brain child behind the subsidy removal.you should rather face you governor than the igbos cos you will not gain anything attacking the igbos rather you will die of high blood pressure.fool.

when other southern ethnic group deem it fit to take charge of the situation in the north and also see it as a responsibility of the south to protect its people then they can join us.but if they want to remain the way they are by keeping quiet like as if their own people too are not being killed then the igbo will take the lead as we have always be the strength of the south nad also we have more people than other ethnic group of the south in the north,

we don't need any help,we don't need any sympathy, neither do we need any fake/deceitful solidarity.Am very sure and confident when the right time comes one day,the igbos will be needed to help clean up the mess.

Exactly! Same reason why the suspected Xmas day terror suspect could be made to escape under frivolous circumstances.
If Jonathan meant well for the Igbos, that suspect responsible for the death of over 40 Igbos on Xmas day alone should not have been handled with kid gloves. The earlier the Igbos learn to look beyond their past and join in the fight to emancipate the future, the better for us all because at the end of the day, it is the same people you all didn't join while fighting a collective injustice in the name of subsidy removal that will eventually rescue you from the ineptitude of the Government of the day, irresepective of who is at the helm. The days of nepotism are gradually being numbered in Nigeria, especially as far as the Presidency is concerned.
Re: Alliance Of Igbo Youths Accuse Fg Of "toying" With Ndigbos Lives by Nobody: 10:11am On Jan 19, 2012
It is refreshing to know that Ndigbo are beginning to know their battles and having a unified voice in addressing and tackling them.

We are independently minded and will not hesitate to tell it to whoever is at the helm of affairs when it is absolutely necessary. It is to be understood that whoever needs to be confronted on this issue, should be, including the President.

All these brouhaha about subsidy protest this and that is rubbish. Where were the so called "activists" before the subsidy removal when Boko Haram was dragging Nigeria into anarchy and a possible civil war? You cowards sat back and did nothing. It was until your awoof subsidy of 22naira was removed that thugs came out onto the streets burning, looting and causing mayhem without a clear goal or agenda.

It is ironic that a lot of these moronic cowards have all but ignored their own kinsmen that have also fallen victims to the carnage of the barbaric acts of BH. Yet, these people chose to remain silent. It is known that Yoruba's and even Hausa's have also been killed in numbers by BH. But they don't VALUE the lives of their kinsmen. They prefer 22naira to it. Well, it is now our understanding that a Yoruba and Hausa man's live is worth 22NAIRA.  I am sorry to disappoint you all, a typical igbo man value the live of a human being. You don't have to look no further than when we are bidding a dead person farewell. It is enshrined in the general igbo psyche and tradition that human live is precious.

Comically, the subsidy protest was already dead on arrival. The real intention of FG was to increase the price of fuel from 65 to 97. They just needed a strategy to sell the message and implement their plan. At the end of the day what happened? They got what they wanted. NLC and TUC sold you guys, got their own share of Ghana must go and should be enjoying their loot. You people couldn't see that. No wonder PDP calls themselves the "the wise men of Nigeria".  To even make matters worst, opportunists hijacked the protest and were pushing their own agenda, which erupted into violence and lose of human lives in the process without no concrete result or fundamental shift of the system. Who is fooling who?

When there is a genuine and sincere protest against the Nigerian establishment. Then we will know how to go about it. As for now, our kinsmen lives are worth more to us even if it is just ONE victim. We value them GREATLY. We are not Saboteurs, As.sss lickers, and Back stabbers.

If playing politics is more important to you than human lives, then, you people need to have your brains checked. I am certain Nuts fell out of them. We all know who the 2nd class citizens are with all their poverty stricken populace, despite the fact that they call themselves "owners of Nigeria". Stop fooling yourselves and face reality.

I am still trying to solve the math and want someone to help me out.

Does

Yoruba lives + Hausa lives = 22 Naira?

Shalom cool
Re: Alliance Of Igbo Youths Accuse Fg Of "toying" With Ndigbos Lives by okpurukata(f): 10:15am On Jan 19, 2012
I don't know what they mean by protest. We all sat at home during the protest, no one went to work. However do I expect a self employed person to close his shop and stay at home in the name of strike, when the government and other employers will pay the so called NLC members at the month end? That will be grossly unfair.

So people, stop this rubbish, Ibos complied. However, there is an adage that a person whose house is on fire does not chase rats. A lot of Ibos were mourning their dead, so you do not expect them to join the carnivals. However, most Ibos outside the SE were at the fore front.

I think ndigbo are the best child of GEJ, they said he is an untouchable, their own man, no protest against his clueless government all sort of bla bla bla. How come they now realizing this after all the support during the subsidy protests and their sentiment. Well' its bad that they don't even knows that many governor in SE are just after themselves and their family not for the masses of ndigbo thus they are selling igbos out every time. The earlier the igbos put sentiment aside and united with the other Nigerians to change this dummy administration to effective one that will deliver good governance and protect everyone life and property the better it is for them. lipsrsealed
