charlsecy4:
Let's talk about what to look out for when buying a mobile phone, given that you already have spotted an original one, to ensure it is working optimally before concluding purchase or payment.

The fact that a mobile phone is original does not mean that it couldn’t come with some defects; hence, it is not surprising that responsible phone makers usually give warranty or guaranty on their products. This warranty normally has a one-year validity. The essence of the warranty is to cover defects that might have arisen from error during production process. Warranty does not cover defects that arise from misuse. Always read the manufacturer’s policy to ascertain what defects are covered by the warranty.

Having stated that an original mobile phone could come with some defects, it is advisable to check any phone you want to buy or have paid for before leaving the phone store. Some phone stores insist that you pay before they let you inspect the phone. However, they are willing to change the phone if you discover any defect(s). Other stores could let you inspect the phone before paying for it.

Here, I will outline some elements to look out for before leaving the phone store.

Press all the buttons to ensure they are responding well and showing the corresponding letter, figure, punctuation or character when pressed.

Insert a SIM card in the phone and dial the number of a friend or anyone else. Confirm you could hear them and that they could hear you. This way, you can be sure that the mouthpiece and earpiece are in order.

Have someone call you to confirm that the phone rings and vibrates properly.

Connect the charger to the phone and ascertain if it is charging the phone.

If the phone comes with earphones, plug it in, play music, ringtones, radio and make calls to be sure it is working.

If it is a dual SIM phone, make sure that the two SIM slots are functional and working as stated.

Generally, browse through the phone menu.

When you get home or office, fully charge the battery before use. However, you can use the phone before charging it, but make sure the battery does not run down completely before charging it fully. Ignore the instructions of some non-knowledgeable sellers or persons who would ask you to charge the battery for an inordinate number of hours, say, 6 or 7 hours. Unplug the charger whenever the battery indicator or a text shows that the battery is fully charged.

If you can think of any other thing(s) I should have added, make your comments, it will be appreciated.
