Ekiti sends 10 monarchs to London to mark anniversary

Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State has sent 10 first class monarchs in the State to London to observe the 11th Ekiti Day celebration, which took place Monday.
The reason of sending the traditional rulers to London, the State Commissioner for Information, Apostle Odunayo Ategbero, explained yesterday was to brief Ekiti people in diaspora about what has been happening in the State and Nigeria.

The commissioner was reacting to claims in some quarters that royal fathers in the state boycotted the 47th independence anniversary and celebration of the 11th year of creation of the state. He said that every local government in the State was “celebrating the anniversary also, so people decided to remain in their locality rather than coming to Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti were Governor Oni came to deliver his speech as expected.”

NOTES: Only in Nigeria do public officials and cronies celebrate the aniversaries of a state in a foreign country! What were the monarchs "observing" in London? Do they have a branch of Ekiti state there?

They needed 10 (TEN!) monarchs to brief Ekiti people in diaspora about happenings in the state and Nigeria? In this day and age of the internet?

Nigeria na wa o!
shocked

@Davidylan

I am sure this isn't the first instance of government profligacy and it sure as hell wouldn't be the last.

Only Nigerians understand how they arrange their own priorities. We can only but observe from afar.

But it is obvious the crappy schools, lack of water, PHCN and poor health structures are far far down on the list.

Surely after about two years, we will hear about this road and that road the Governor spent inflated amounts to construct or repair. Like say
na that one we go chop.

That's the beauty of 'amala & ewedu' democracy. sad Lest you forget, Nigeria runs a political system known as 'come and chop' angry.
Stop wondering why the Obas went to London, how could you have forgotten so soon that their fore fathers were carried away as slaves, died and buried in London, as traditional rulers next to their ancestors in ranking, certainly they've gone to pay  homage to their ancestors grin

To be serious, the money expended on these hypocrites would have been enough to award scholarships to many necessitous students of Ekiti origin. I ask, how will a traditional ruler (who has sold his prestige for a mere tour abroad) be able to stand his grounds in a case involving the welfare of his subjects? Kai! These old fools are nothing but cretins angry

This is no longer a case of poverty, but that of greed, stupidity, infact I lack words to describe these maggots. The Alafin of Oyo was once given a car gift by Gov. Adebayo Christopher Alao-Akala of Oyo State, this Monarch blatantly rejected the offer, adducing the prevalent chaos in the state as a reason.

If our old ones are corrupt and our young ones ain't better either, then we are doomed! MAY GOD REDEEM US FROM THE TRAMMELS OF OUR WICKED RULERS.

I was so speechless after reading the newspiece. I didnt know we had descended that low into the morass of greed, cronyism and corruption.

While hungry children will be at dilapidated stadiums matching to the drumbeats of poverty, our dear monarchs are busy in London "observing" the aniversary. God dey!

Davidylan,
Nigeria is ruled by greed, hypocritical creed, cronyism and corruption.

Below is the picture of Chief "the thief" James Ibori and his gang of titular thieves.

This is what they call a sweet wind of change. In the past, people had to rely on friends and the net for information on Nigeria, but with the sweet wind of change blowing,we can now call upon traditional rulers to deliver such information to us.

I was just speaking to my mum about how in the hands of Nigerians, Democracy has so far been nothing but a joke. We seriously need to stand up and fight for our rights in that country. Our right to be heard.

Do we really have a true "democracy"? What we have is nothing but a military dictatorship masquerading in civilian clothes.

Exactly the conclusion we reached. We have nothing but what we used to have under the guise of democracy that is why the people still do not seem to understand why this is when to stand up and say enough is enough!!
