Thanks thread owner. I use Torch 2 (9810) now and I have downloaded the relevant OS 7.1 software as indicated. It is over 200+MB. So now pls, how do I go about using the software to upgrade my BB? Pls explain to me. Thanks.

yes you can. the same desktop manager
can degrade and upgrade any software
as you please.

9900, 9930 and 9810 all belong to the same
generation of rim phones and can be upgraded to 7.1.0.XXXX

use desktop manager, apploader or bbsak.
i recommend apploader though. connect your phone to your laptop.

go to start, my computer, C:>program files(x86)>common files
>research in motion>apploader>

on the apploader file delete a file called "vendor.xml"
now on the same apploader file open "loader"

it will prompt you to download the newest OS onto your
phone then sit back and relax and let the OS do it's job.

make sure that vendor.xml file is deleted if the new os is the official version.
if the os is a leaked version, you are not required to delete vendor.xml.

risky to install an upgrade. your device would freeze up
and get stuck in between.

Other networks need an active data aside the bis subscription.
