Before Their Plan To Christianize Nigeria Failed
Praise Be To Allaah
It was in the late 80's when the re-sounding echo
of "Nigeria For Christ By Year 2000" filtered into
almost every home, city and state. Every effort
from the christendom was geared towards the
actualisation of the vision. The years that preceded
the "Vision 2000" Christ project saw a lot of pet
projects and crusades, all of which unfolded in
quick succession.
The first project focused on a smear campaign and
blackmail of the very essence of our existence, the
worship of Allaah alone. The Christian Association
of Nigeria (CAN) sponsored the publication of the
two world's most dangerous books then, "WHO IS
THIS ALLAH" and "ANATOMY OF THE QUR'AN",
both authored by G.J.O Moshay. The two books
contained nothing but wicked lies and fabrication
of verses that did not exist in the Qur'aan, which
unfortunately did a lot of harm to the Muslims in
Nigeria, especially that ignorance around that
period was at it's peak. This did not threaten the
unity of Nigeria.
Fortunately, Malam Yusuf Mabera, may Allaah
overlook his shortcomings, published a rejoinder,
debunking and exposing all the lies, but that was
only after so much harm has been inflicted on us.
I almost became a victim myself, but
AlhamduliLlaah am here to type this today.
They proceeded with their grassroot projects in
form of fellowship programmes from the primary
level up to the higher institutions. In most cases,
they hijacked classrooms, lecture theatres, hostels,
campus walkways/bustops. You find them inside
intra-city buses as well as motor parks preaching
the gospel and distributing church leaflets. They
extented their preachings to the hospitals, prisons,
school for the handicapped, orphanages, villages
etc. All these happened and it's happening without
sparking violence.
They painted major cities in Nigeria with colorful
Crusade/Evangelism posters and banners,
including night vigils. Gradually, neighbourhoods
had to bid sleep farewell because of the churches
noise pollution rented every available space.
Rented residential apartment were immediately
converted to churches. Balconies were all turned to
fellowship centres without the permission of the
landlords in most cases.
In the year 1991, the German evangelist Reinhard
Bonnke came to Nigeria upon the invitation of the
CAN. This man pulled so much crowd in all the
major cities of Nigeria he visited. In lagos alone,
not less than 2 million people were alleged to have
attended his "miracle" crusade. He was in Ilorin,
and it was as if the entire city was going to bow at
his feet. In Kano city alone, he did not pull any
less crowd. He came with his sound systems that
would almost drive the jinn out of the possessed.
Even if one was not present at his crusade ground,
his sharp re-sounding echo of "Halleluyyah" and
"In the name of Jesus" will surely reach the person
in the remotest place of his room. A lot of Muslims
fell for his miracle trap.
But this is what happened shortly before the
coming of Bonnke. Shaykh Ahmad Deedat, who
was slated for a comparative Daw'ah programme
in Kano was denied entry to Nigeria on arrival at
Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in 1991.
He in company of Yusuf, a daily trust journalist
arrived aboard a British Airways flight from London,
after visiting Sudan and other countries, with valid
Nigerian visas (for it had then been rumoured that
the Shaykh had arrived without a visa).
On arrival, what was supposed to be welcome
party by the overwhelmingly huge crowd awaiting
his arrival, turned out to be a disappointment, as
security operatives politely told the Shaykh that
they had orders not to allow him entry. He wanted
to know why, but they told him they only had
orders. The Shaykh was said to have stubbornly
refused to return to the plane, which had been
delayed for the purpose of back-to-sender. After
many hours of haggling, during which Shaykh
Deedat requested to be taken to prison rather than
leave Nigeria, the BA pilot came and begged the
Shaykh to consider other passengers on board and
reboard, which he reluctantly did. Not too long
after, in October 1991, the Reinhard Bonnke
crusade was scheduled for Kano. And Kano
became angry, very angry, but Kano the most
densely populated city of Muslims did not
breakdown law and order.
In March 1998, pope John Paul was slated to visit
Nigeria for the second time. The first time was in
the year 1982. So much preparations and activities
were lined up for this much publicised visit. It
became the major news on both the radio and TV
stations across the country, using the tax-payers
money to pay for the huge adverts.
Before the pope's arrival, the then Minister of the
Federal Capital Territory, Gen. Jeremiah T. Oseni, a
staunch catholic was able to convince the then
President of Nigeria, late Gen. Sani Abacha, a
Muslim, may Allaah forgive him and grant him
Jannah, to allocate a large portion of land in the
heart of the FCT for the catholic mass, which he
gladly obliged. Not a single Muslim demanded for
an equal allocation of land, neither did we grabbed
the land spaces that neighboured the place of the
event, which till today, has become a permanent
lucrative land space for the Christians.
Every city and town that led to the FCT was locked
down by human and vehicular traffic, all in an
attempt by all and sundry to catch a glimpse of
the pontiff. He addressed both the Christians of the
other denominations as well as the Sultan of
Sokoto, and by extension, the Muslims in Nigeria.
One would have expected the Muslims to shout,
NO NO NO, as the bitter experience of Shaykh
Ahmad Deedat was still much remembered, but
our religion is all encompassing. It teaches
discipline and orderliness.
All these came and passed hitch-free; no violence,
no "we no gree". We did not say the Grand mufti of
Saudi Arabia must also come to Nigeria
immediately and be accorded the same respect
and privileges as compensation, no we did not,
because we are a people whose belief is not based
on a copy-cat sickness.
All these we tolerated for so long without going to
court or even the Supreme Council for Islamic
Affairs of Nigeria or the Jama'atu Nasrul Islaam
ever speaking up on the planned "Chritianisation"
of Nigeria, even when the Christians gave it a loud
and intimidating publicity.
But today, the CAN is maliciously and
hypocritically crying foul on an alleged plot to
Islamize Nigeria. What an absurdity.

As salaam alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh!!! My brothers and sisters in Islam, lets grab this once in a year opportunity to seek the night of majesty in this last 10days of Ramadan. Allah says this night is worth more than a thousand months. Pls lets distance ourselves from idle discussions and keep our tongue busy with the Zhirk saying "ALLAHUMMO INNOKA AFFUWUN TUHIBUL AFWAN FA'AFUWANNI" may Allay pardon out short coming and accept this ramadan as an act of ibaadah. Aaamin
