The Kaduna State government has been clarifying an earlier report on the violence at the Government House today.

A statement issued by the state commissioner of police, Mr. Ballah Nasarawa today says that a combined team of security personnel attached to Government House main gate, Kaduna, intercepted a ToyotaCorrola Saloon car with Kaduna state official Reg. No. Kaduna KD-06-A 04.

Officials claim the "driver drove dangerously in a suspicious manner towards the Government House gate," adding that he refused to stop and had "forced his way through the exit gate".

The statement claimed that security agents had no option but to open fire and "shot the suspect on the leg and the lower abdominal part of his body".

"The suspect was later identified as Pastor Isuwa Kiforo of no. 7, Abba Rimi road, Narayi, Kaduna, who is the Director, Finance and Administration, Ministry of Information, Kaduna state''

Pastor Kiforor rushed to 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, for treatment, after he was given first aid by a team of medical personnel attached to the Government House.

The statement adds that the vehicle was thoroughly searched by anti-bomb disposal experts and nothing incriminating was recovered.

THERE were gunshots at the main gate of the Government House, Kaduna, on Monday afternoon, as soldiers on guard stopped a man who reportedly tried to force his way into the premises.

Newsmen were told that the man, who drove a car, was stopped at the first checkpoint for inquiries and was said to have sought for entry to see the state governor, but he was told to go back, as the governor was in Abuja on an official assignment.

However, the soldiers reportedly fired shots at the man, because instead of making a U–turn, he decided to force his way through into the Government House.

The soldiers were said to have shot the man in the leg, while he was rushed to a nearby hospital under tight security.

The gunshots caused panic and confusion around the area, as commuters and passers-by were forced to go back, while nearby business premises temporarily closed.

There were, however, conflicting reports on the identity of the man who was later identified as a senior government official with the state ministry, and not on a suicide mission.

At a press briefing, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bala Nasarawa, confirmed the incident, saying that the man was later identified as Pastor Isuwa Kiforo, the Director, Finance and Administration, state Ministry of Information.

According to him, he had been rushed to 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, for treatment, adding that nothing incriminating was recovered in

Trying to force his way in? I'm really disappointed at the guards. They should have shot him point blank in between the eyes. Moronic human beings who don't know why rules are created deserve severe punishment.

Haba, edoyad, shoot your own between the eyes, so that if by chance any of the soldiers happen to be Hausa or Muslim you ppl and the lopsided press would have a field day giving it an ethno-religious angle.
Kill him certainly not, let him live and explain his exemplary behavior to his flock.
