Bros what do you mean by that? From my own view rooney deserves his starting place in the team, be it as the 2nd striker or the number 10. The only inclusion I question is RVP, he has not shown that he deserves a starting place so far, even mata.

elampiro: Mata may be able to convince Gaal with these three matches. It looks to me that as of now, Gaal doesn't even fancy Mata's style. Sneidjer revealed recently that Gaal wanted him. If Gaal wanted Sneidjer so badly despite he costantly complaining we had too many number 10s, it then means that Gaal was not at all satisfied with Mata who played the number 10 in preseason and the first few matches of the season.

Rooney got the armband cuz there's lack of alternatives, everyone knows that.

the only competitor wad RvP, & if LvG had handed it to RvP it may have evoked whispers of sentiments! the last thing LvG wanted on his already difficult task is being bothered over press-issues.

the deployment of Rooney in no. 10 is necessary for now cuz of the poor organizations & inexperience @ the back. he adds presence to the engine room which will limit the defensive work-load on Blind & Herrera.
with better & more physical defenders/midfielders (the EPL thrives on it whether we like it or not), Mata may get back his spot as the no. 10
