I didn't watch the game but it seems the boys played really woefully from the posts here.
Smalling and Rojo don't really surprise me cos in my opinion they should be 3rd and 4th choice CBs. The problem with Jones and Bailly is relative lack of height and Jones fitness issues. In terms of pace, positioning, intelligence and ability on the ball they are ahead of Smalling n Rojo
And I think the usefulness of Carrick is coming to an end so Pogba and Herrera should be our first choice until the end of this season with Mikki at the no10, Martial from the left, Zlatan at 9 and either Mata or Rashford playing on the right.
Like someone said earlier JM has to be spot on with his rotation from now on cos we have got a deluge of matches coming and most are against tough opposition.

We have no "easy" or "meaningless" games anymore, except the midweek game against St Etienne.

Jose will have to be at his management best with all the fixtures coming in thick and fast. Any over rotation will put us in difficult positions in crucial games ( we are not as deep in quality as thought), & any under rotation will lead to burnout. He has to get it just right. I don't envy him.

For starters, get all the reserves a game in France. Romero, Timo, Young, Fellaini, Shaw, Schweisteiger, Rooney, Lingard, Darmian etc, and let's start all over in the EFL final...

We could be playing City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham TWICE the rest of the season.
A true test of where we are /need to be next season!!

actually it was just smalling that was woeful, rojo has been exceptional this season and deserves to start every game, since shaw isn't playing, rojo at left back would be just fine with bailly and Jones at cb

Rojo at LB is not too bad if Shaw remains out of the team for reasons best known to JM. But Bailly n Jones should he 1st choice CB for now and please TFM should start getting minutes at RB instead of Young, Darmian et al.
