Modric went to Real because Spurs were being difficult selling to us and preferred to sell abroad. once Real became interested we didnt stand a chance.

He also didn't do much in trying to keep C.Ro. That incident with Beckham. Etc.

He did everything possible to keep CR7 but the kid's mind was mad up that he wanted to go to real and he begged SAF to let him go to Real. SAF even uttered that he wouldnt sell that mob a virus due to Real Madrid's interested. He then convinced his to stay once more season and that he will sell the next season but only for a world record straight cash fee of £80m. CR7 stayed and SAF kept his word. I dont think you can say he didnt do much to keep him.

I dont think anyone has ever painted SAF as being perfect because he wasnt He made huge mistakes in selling Stam and also letting Pogba go at such a young age. Beckham wasnt a mistake. It was time to go and the club moved on without them.
